Hey all first of all let me introduce myself. My name is Konrad I work for Maximillian Importing Company and I have 2 Euro BMW's a 730 78" and a 320/6 81" with 2.7 stroker engine. I'm new to 2002 ownership and want to share my project with all you guys receive feedback and suggestions from this great community.

The car is a 1970" 2002 with Tii bits on it...engine,brakes,etc. Looks like an old tii got trashed and they put the bits on this 70" I bought.

It's also got some 74" bits as you will notice from the pics.

I'm having trouble with the alternator, starter, wiring and kugelfischer pump atm. I will post more later on!

Also need to decide whether the car should be repainted in the original Colorado color or Baikal or any other 2002 color I like.

It's a tough road ahead for restoration but it'll be fun!

Great to be part of the 02" community.

Konrad.

First on my project...

The car cranked real slow so I was afraid something was wrong with the engine. I took some time and pulled out the valve cover and turned the motor manually as well as check on the points, distribuitor cap, rotor, plugs, etc.

Thanks! Lot of bugs to take out but little by little we'll get there :).

Can't wait to see it transformed into a beautiful restored 02.

Hello Konrad. You have an interesting project. Looks like the distributor needs to be thoroughly cleaned and maybe rebuilt. I recommend you contact Jeff S. at www.advanceddistributors.com.

Any updates on Max's tii? Haven't seen an update to his project blog in a while.

Thanks that's the idea! Today I had a big problem.

Turns out I took the car into the garage to start fixing it and a few days later I start noticing some spiders that resembled back widows.

Of course I freaked out and sent one to get analyzed and guess what? Black Widows! Real ones.

Now this morning I saw hundreds and I'm not joking even little black widow babies we tried to kill as much as we could but the car is a nest!

So tonight I had to town the car out on the street It was too dangerous having it close to the house since we even found one of the spiders in our bathroom.

I'm having the pest company spray all the car with whatever strong venom they have and leave it out on the street until all those vermins have died.

Anyway was a pretty good scare I wanted to share with you so in the meantime taking the starter off the engine is out of question!

Konrad.

It still has the carb! Idle is rough....but it pulls a lot and sounds like heaven. Feels like a lot more torque than FI ones I've rode on (E30) though.

Casting on my head is a 200 with slight port and polish.

Some more pics!

Preparing a carb (I know an old DIDTA) to see if I get it firing on all cylinders, made a carb out of 2:

Cleaning the kugelfischer a bit and found paint inside the outlets...ouch. I think it's a goner #2 cylinder won't fire at all.

And a little bit of polish in the old paint so it doesn't look that sad.

that's what i would preffer to do but i need to see if it's viable cost wise since it's not only the pump that's neglected

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
