Makes sense to me. Gaskets/O-rings may be expensive but would probably be a good project. If it fits in the budget I would recommend it.

Yeah but its not only that I think the whole thing has to be redone! It's in really REALLY bad shape so bad that to start it i have to pour gas down the manifold into the cylinders.

I would assume, that you could buy a rebuild kit for it? May not be as easy to get as a carb one, but 10 times better than a Solex! I think a guy on here did a write up on it not long ago, i'll see if i can find it for ya.

Edit: He started into it, not sure if he did it all or not. May be able to ask him if he did.

Pull the pump off and soak all the parts in liquid wrench for a while, then find the right size allen wrench. Liquid wrench will be your best friend with that car, it works miracles on my cars and tractors!n Other than that I dont have many other ideas on how to get it out, just gotta use a lot of ingenuity I guess :P

You could use a dremel and make em the next size up in Metric or American? That would probably work for ya. Gonna take time though :/

Well this weekend I finally got angry enough with the Kugel Fischer to tear it apart! Now it's nothing more than tubes on a cardboard box.

Now I need to take off that pump, get a new oil filter housing, hoses, manifold and carb and I'm good to go!

It's a shame it has to go but....tooo expensive for a car that's not an original tii.

PS: Notice the PVC plumbing the previous owner did! :S

Still taking parts off from the kugelfischer system and finding out how bad the cooling system and starter was.

Will be uploading some more pictures of the fresh new parts that are going in, car needs to be in great mechanical condition before it hits the body shop.

The beast has awaken!

The car started, there was a puff of blue smoke and off it went had to adjust the timing to keep it on and finally I got a more or less stable idle at 1000rpm. Here are all the pics of the event hopefully I'll be able to upload a video soon.

There was an exhaust leak on the intake manifold and it needs a valve adjustment badly, but besides that and the slight blue smoke its not so bad... to be honest for a car that had been sitting around 15 years its pretty cool!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
