  1. I will take them. Ray Daley rdaley3 at aol.com
  2. I had a brown 71 there decades ago. Drive over from Springboro several times a month. Don't get to take the current 02 though. What are you studying?
  3. I have been looking at 318ti. Saw this in in the list today (Sunday) http://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/1486398227.html Call the guy. get this story. ""Dad purchased new. changed timing belt and water pump at 116k. Orignal clutch and tranny. Have a blessed day"" All a bunch of BS!! I go see the car. It is the same car I looked at earlier in the week on Wednesday.. Story from other owner (college kid), blew a belt, overheated, dad paid for head gasket fix, need to sell to pay dad back. I got number of mechanic and he confirms story and says he did the head, which I believe because it was a quiet as a sewing machine. This I fully believed. As I am walking up to the car this mornig I see the exact same rust spot, chrome gear knob, stereo, interrior, (now vacumed)., missing headliner for sun roof etc. The upsetting thing was how much I beleived the original owner story over the phone. I wonder what would have happend when I asked about any documentation. The scammer guy this morning walks out of the house asks if I want to drive it. I say I drove it last week. He says no you didn't, do you want to drive it. I say that I already did drive this car. He continues to try to sell me on it. I say no thanks and walk away.

  6. That I don't go to enough Mendhelsons: downtown MCM http://www.mcmelectronics.com Parts Express http://www.parts-express.com/home.cfm Dalco http://www.dalco.com/ These three are national mail order places that are within a mile of each other in Springboro. Got a nice soldering iron from MCM last week---and also a 240 watt (60/channel) Pyle CD player for the 2002. It ROCKS!! Has a USB input which is what I was looking for and it also has a SD memory card slot. I found a 2gb SD card on the shelf and loaded it with about ~20 albums. Can't believe some of the sounds I am hearing, makes some classics sound new, like Rolling Stones sticky fingers.
  7. Agree! My problem is time... :_) How is your daughter doing with her 2002? e-mail me at rdaley3@aol.com Cheers. Ray
  8. I had KYB gas shocks 20 years ago that raised my 2002 an inch over bilsteins. Only changed the shocks, drove quite a bit and measured several times. Also found out that KYBs suck. Regarding ride height, is corner weight more imporant?
  9. Depends on what you want. I have had both. Urethane for more instant response for sport/track driving. Currenlty have rubber for a more comfortable ride. My experience is that the softer compound is better at taking the high frequency vibrations out and the HD springs and bars take enought roll and dive out. Ever drive a bone stock 2002 with skinny 165 tires. It leans like the shit, (soft ride) but is a blast to drive.
  10. This search is better with a date restriction. http://books.google.com/books?as_q=bmw+2002&num=100&lr=&as_pt=MAGAZINES&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_brr=0&as_pt=MAGAZINES&lr=&as_vt=&as_auth=&as_pub=&as_sub=&as_drrb_is=b&as_minm_is=1&as_miny_is=1955&as_maxm_is=1&as_maxy_is=1976&as_isbn=&as_issn=
  11. Google book search for BMW 2002. Finds some really nice old articles. http://books.google.com/books?ei=CL7sSszRKKi8yASdnOyhDw&as_pt=MAGAZINES&q=bmw+2002 I tried "turn you hymnals" but no luck.
  12. Could be put on that way by a drunk dude at the factory and it was never found.
  13. Since you are considering the cost of a rebuild any way... Have you tried an Italian tune-up? Lots of full throttle action!
  14. Not sure what channel as I was surfing... Has the guy who came up with the marketing tag line Ultimate Driving Machine. Has some awesome footage of neu klass and 2002. He says he was there at the beginning. Keep pumping our rides perceived value up!!
  15. Efrain, Thanks for the response. The translucent tube is the newer design of the brake fluid hose that goes from the Clutch master to the clutch slave. I'll limp home tonight and bleed tomorrow. Thanks,
  16. My clutch pedal got verly light last night and I had to be careful to push it all the way to the floor to release. I had just topped off the brake fluid and see that it is down about an 1/8 inch in a couple days. I do not detect any leak under slave or master (in pedal box) yet. I do see an air bubble in the translucent tube from the master to the slave. I am traveling for work (chicago) so dont' have my bleeder hose. Do you think it is the Master? I am asking because I would like to order the part (Master or slave) so I can change it out this weekend?
  17. Here are the clues. Driving lots of shorter trips around town (say about 500 miles total) and the coolant in the radiator goes down, about an inch. Top it up, drive to Chicago and back (650 miles) last week and there is no change in the level in the radiator. No coolant visible in oil. I have checked all possible external leakage points and don't see anything. My theory is a head gasket water leak that goes away when the thing is hot, therefore, no leakage on a long trip. Any other theories.
  18. Could it have been the guy who bought Carl's car in Yellow Springs?
  19. http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm?template=magazine&mag_id=17305 A buddy of mine was in the Hacker Pit crew for years. I had the fortune of getting to be in the pit crew once at an IMSA Firehawk event at Mid-Ohio for the #2 Hacker team car. It was pretty exciting to see the #1 Hacker car beat team Honda. It was getting dark and the tail lights went out. They broke the tail light lense with a hammer, dropped a mag flash light in, taped it up and went back out to win, avoiding a black flag for no tail lights.
  20. Thanks for the post. I saw NRPS in 1973 and last year in Yellow Springs. Love the pedal steal.
