  1. I bought a nice Luisi wheel from a FAQer and the horn did not work. I finally got to look at it. The brass rod/contact on a spring on the base of the adapter was just sliding out of the black plastic casing that holds it such that it was not making contact with the brass ring on the steering column.. Further analyis showed what I think happend. It looks like the out of the box length of the brass rod was too long for the fitment on a 2002 so that when the wheel adapter was mounted to the steering column the brass rod was rammed through the plastic housing. I was able to cut about a 1/2 inch off the brass rod so that it was the correct length, and to super glue the insert and the black casing to repair it. It was funny when my daughter stuck her head out the door to see what all the honking was about. We will see how it holds up. So, if you get a new steering wheel hub adapter, check the fit on how far the brass rod contact will compress before just cranking it down.
  2. For a clunking in ther right rear suspension. Turned out the bottom of the shock was a little loose and just a 1/4 turn of torque on the nut made a difference. Just before winter storage, I had readjusted the exhaust, but there was still a clunking that I was determined to find. There is still some salt around in a few places but it is dry out and I have been laid up for a bit with a ruptured achilles that is now good enough for me to drive a standard transmission and I need to have some fun.
  3. My car is still in the shed and there is salt on the road. You lucky dogs!!
  4. I watched all three segments. Inthe end they say it cost 6 figures in Euros to build it! Imagine a $100,000 2002?
  5. Years ago I had the IndyCar series game with a steering wheel for a PC. It was great fun, especially getting to run on tracks I had driven on for BMW drivers schools (Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glenn). I was thinking of dedicating an old PC to a racing set up. Would anyone here have an recommendations for a PC based game.
  6. I would appreciate any recommendations you might have for any automotive themed streaming NETFLIX offereings. I am recovering from achillies repair surgery so have lots of time. I watched the orignial "The Fast and The Furious" the other day. Other Netflix streaming recommendations appreciated too. Thanks,
  7. Those pistons look good to me. One advice I wisht I had followed was to use the largest oversized pistons as possible to maximize torque.
  8. A guy once told me that in a restoration to do the following sequence. 1st do the mechanical. 2nd do the body 3rd do the interior. This assumes the body/chasis is solid, so I would put structural work first before mechanical. I followed this sequence once and it seemed to make sense. One goal might be to get to the point where you can drive it as soon as possible saving what ever possible to complete while you can drive it. Unless you want to dive it out the garage like new.
  9. I am looking at a 1991 318is here ins dayton area. Greatly appreciate a carfax report for WBAAF9311MEE70803 if you have access. Thanks,
  10. I would like the steering wheel. Rdaley3 at aol dot com.
  11. I just took a few shots with my phone. There are places on my car in the engine bay where you can see the original factory paint and I think this current coat is pretty close. I do see some differences in the metal flake though as my touch up guy told me that modern metal flakes are quite different then the early 70's. As others have mentioned turkis is a color that looks quite different depending on the lighting conditions. Cheers.
  12. PICK UP ONLY in Springboro (between Dayton and Cinci) Ohio. Two passenger seats all original, one good vinyl, needs stuffing. the other is a little worn and restuffed with foam. One drivers seat, split in seat, tear where head rest goes in and restuffed at one point with foam. some metal fatigue. Headrests included, but NO RAILS. Here are pictures of one of the passenger seats.
  13. too far away for me to buy these, but was wondering what you thought about the difference between your 14s and your 15s?
  14. Pat, thanks for the post and photos. I am not going to get a Cabriolet, but I enjoy seeing especially the photo of the trunk (boot). That is the first time I have seen the design of the structural support built in for a factory cabriolet. Regards,
  15. There are a few places the center muffler and rear muffler can hit if they are not alligned nice. I have to adjust my rear boy every now and then because it starts hitting the rear facia after doing too many burnouts. Also check under the half shaft. If the exhaust is hitting the half shaft you have to loosen and adjust where it connects to the down pipe. If it is hitting the rear facia you can loosen and adjsut where the rear muffler attaches to the center resonator. At least this is my experience over the years.
  16. Picked these up from a fellow who sold his e30. Borbet Class H 15x7 ET 25 with 205/55 tires. Will see how they hit the fenders soon as I hit it hard.
  17. I had a couple small rust bubbles just under the rear widow gasket. I removed the window and this is what I found under the original, never removed, 37 year old gasket. I am getting this fixed soon.
