  1. Don't be unfair, it has a very rare middle console.
  2. It looked as it was made in China. With new technologies emerging everyday, it won't be hard to replicate a replacement lens. But the problem is that you need to break your current lens to use this replacement or, go through the oven process to remove the original lens. This will be a hold back for many when deciding to buy or not. I think whoever made these, thought that by bypassing the lens removal and just making a whole replacement as one piece, he could push this sale by overcoming the aforementioned challenge. I don't think BMW has any power over anyone making parts for their own classic cars. Frankly I don't don't think they care either. Almost $140 for a pair was too high for forum sale. I'd say it seemed like a 100% profit margin.
  3. Or full clear: Here is the installed look posted by Rusty02 More here
  4. Why not scan and print the whole thing in Italian style? Here is a sample design!
  5. Interested to see your finished project first. Keep us updated.
  6. How do you remove the lens from its chrome frame? I don't want to break it because mine looks almost new and its waiting assembly. I could use 3D scan if I had a spare lens.
  7. Hi Tony, I had the exact same problem with my previous 02 (74 with twin webers). After removing the carbs and reinstall, the mechanical pump failed to supply fuel. I disconnected the entry supply of fuel that goes to the pump. Then connected a longer hose to the fuel pump and put the other side in a can of fuel that i was holding in my hand. After a few start, the pump worked ok so I reconnected the original fuel supply and that was it. I also recommend that you drain your fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel before this. I'm not a mechanic and this was back when I was in my 20s but I hope this get you somewhat closer in resolving your problem. Cheers
  8. Thanks, yes those tabs are press sealed and I didn't want to damage or bend it accidentally as it wouldn't be the same when it's reassembled.
  9. You guys realise people wash money on eBay right? iPhone 7 listed for $6800. So "buyer" would buy that and pay cash at pickup. Seller pay appropriate eBay fees & tax then bank the money. Buyer doesn't even pickup the item, seller re-list and repeat. eBay is aware of this but they don't care. I've reported these and they've been taken off immediately but only the ones being reported. It has to stop.
  10. People always decide by considering price vs condition shown in your photos. The good thing about this forum unlike eBay is that it allows for fair competition hence reasonable prices. esty could've created a new thread as "new console for sale" right after your thread so no need to hijack your thread. It's clear that she was trying to help you with estimated price range. You seem like a good chap and I respect that you have a right to ask for any price but I also recall your previous requests from this forum in assisting you with estimating used part listing price. Best way for you is to search short console under "for sale" thread. For example a complete clean used short console just sold for $125. You can also try eBay as advised before.
  11. Update I washed the inside of the headlight using the method recommended by RAS-2002 as above. Following that step, I decided to use "Rain-x washer fluid additive", mixed the additive with distilled water and washed again (same recommended washing method). Rain-x has methanol so it quickly dried out leaving the internals of the headlight shiny again. Here are the two headlights one hasn't been washed yet, guess which one?
  12. Its basically a polycarbonate film used in most electronic face plates. Some manufacturers use Lexan film. I have access to it through my university's research workshop. But you can also get great results with screen printing on polyester paper with a high mesh count.
  13. Keep the matching engine cleaned and wrapped in storage. Beside having a spare engine, It basically adds a history to your car and its value at the point of sale.
  14. Just trying different designs. I made these in photoshop, anything is possible! [emoji1]
  15. Or you can ask the forum to see if anyone has an old faded euro side light in return for half price finished product? You can then remove the lens and make the mould.
  16. I have an industrial grade 3D scanner and printer in workshop. I don't have the actual lens made by bluebeem. I could print the lens but he needs to send me the 3D scan. Once I print the prototype, I can make a mould and remanufacture this in any colour or style such as the Italian clear lens style.
  17. I could print these then make a mould for Italian style.
  18. Hmmm that's identical to the rear trim between the two tail lights on euro roundies.

  20. Thanks, what grease brand or grade / category did you use? Would any kind suffice?
  21. How do you seal it back? Just hammer the edges?
