  1. That's a lot of gunk. The fluid in the slave was ugly, looked like graphite colored fluid but when I bled it the fresh fluid was clean. Will pull the master tomorrow.
  2. After replacing rhe slave, In preparation for replacing the clutch master I removed the carpet and foam piece...dry as a bone. But I understand the fluid can go back instead of out on rhe master. The slave leaks outwards always...?
  3. Hi all, A few days ago, on a bridge of course, the clutch started to not disengage the motor. Even pumping only helped to get off the bridge. Flatbed home. So the hydraulics are 20 years old, I ordered all new and the E21 hose as well, since I have the O/D 5-speed box installed. Went through the pain of replacing the slave, cursed some but got it out...aired it, ok, but still no clutch. I have the master, so that is next...but are there other possible issues other than these two? I didnt see leaks, but the level in the reservoir was lower, so I assumed that one or the other was guilty. It would be depressing to replace the master and still have no joy... Andrew
  4. Just removing content seems harsh...I've owned BMW's for the last 30 years, rhe 2002 was never an everyman's car...it was cult, just cult wasn't remunerated in the same way as today. In a 0% interest world, there is nowhere to put money so people buy up old cars....some might become fans, some will remain investors....I don't think this site caters to the investors, most are too inept to apply the wisdom, best case might share it with their non-specialist garage to get ahead....and so what. MOST of the people here are not investors, they are enthusiasts of many flavors and some might be sellers in todays market....but what has the same bang for your buck between 1966 and 1976 and is cheaper to buy?
  5. Dementia Joe isn't hell bent on building walls so noone can see how the country rots away. My real fear is that the orange haired clown makes a run in 24. I was a Republican...but today's party bears no semblence to the pre Newt, Tea Foolery and Trumpocracy party that had backbone, dignity and a sense of truth... Even George Bush Jr. is a statesman compared to the orange haired wheeler dealer....
  6. Tank and sender for 300eur... shipping might be pricey... Gerade bei #eBayKleinanzeigen gefunden. Wie findest du das? https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/bmw-e10-2002-02-touring-kraftstoff-behaelter-benzin-tank/1686156051-223-1952?utm_source=sharesheet&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_android
  7. There are angled horns available for the webers, at least on mine that has little to do with the clearance to the brake booster. I have angled horns, with some plumbing rubber reduction piece fitted to the horn outside end to allow the oem boot to fit snuggly.
  8. I am blessed to have a reasonable track near me, with a youngtimer club that organizes 5-6 trackdays per year, only for youngtimers ( so 30+ years old, mostly). My 2002ti is usually the oldest car in the field and I get grouped into the second slowest group because my skills are shorter than those of some others and I dont have a forced induction m52b25 engine under the hood. But its fun and on the narrow twisty circuit used for motorcycles, my car is actually pretty quick due to curb weight...I do sometimes think about wear and tear on the car but its not matching numbers so all the mechanicals are expendable... Andrew
  9. Love the pictures, explains why there are few ti's left....
  10. Sorry, found I only have one orphan, wrong size as well.
  11. I will have to dig it/them out tomorrow. Round, likely 152? They don't fit my larger Hellas (168?). A.
  12. In all seriousness, I have at least one hella 15x cover, not the bmw ones, if you want a period cover... Andrew
  13. And if they have no foam...they offer no protection. I have a nice set of Hella le mans covers, with foam and some others without. The ones without foam don't really look right, the foam is needed to make the cover taught when fitted. But as I mentioned, it has one drawback if you have halogen bulbs you have heat. LED might be a way to avoid that. I usually don't forget, but the idiot in the inspection station turned them on...and I didn't notice immediately.
  14. Soft ones have a big drawback, if you leave them on the foam backing melts when you inadvertently activate the auxiliary lamps. I shelved them and put on plastic cibie covers. A.
  15. There is this old saying "seeing is believing". If someone is trying to sell you a "known, good, not worn out" LSD, then the spin test is the first test. I spent 500 on a "rebuilt" E30 188 case LSD, nice and clean sitting on a bench... only to find that the casing contained media from the bead blasting, the preload was all wrong, the ramp angles were random, only 2 clutches installed where 4 fit...so spent another 300 remediating the work. Either buy cheap or buy the best with reputable receipt for the work. Everything else is a core from my view. I have an empty "S" stamped cases sitting on the shelf, its not an indicator of anything really... 40-50 years on. I would of course use the stamped case if I were to build another LSD diff though... ? Andrew
  16. Draining the oil is only interesting to find bits, but if its only the fact there is an LSD...then of course not necessary.
  17. Mine was stamped, but hid a broken pinion. If you do drain the oil and have a peek inside with a cheap usb camera attached to your mobile phone, you have a better chance....short of taking the rear cover off...which would be the best... A.
  18. You can perhaps scan and edit the standard cap, cut out the body if it's too tall....Mine were drawn, not scanned. That works too if you have a cad user.... A.
  19. I think its a leftover. W&N started by buying up obsolete dealer stock... doubt there are too many full e28 shells kicking about. M5 owners, jump. A.
  20. Hmm, in an archived copy of the bmw group webpage, hofmeister was the chief designer and responsible for the 3200cs "bertone" and the knick...so maybe he did or didn't draw it on a handkerchief, but it would have not made the site of day without his nod....german text though... https://web.archive.org/web/20160803222448/http://www.bmw.de/de/topics/faszination-bmw/bmw-design/merkmale.html#hofmeister
  21. The video is amusing, I've watched some others from him. So the seats would to some extent discount the 2002, even in period they received no praise. Certainly circa 1970 you were right up there with 911s (with more predictable handling) and way ahead of the new products coming from the UK or US. Thanks for sharing. The CS is a GT I suppose, though closer to a true "tourer" than the 107 Mercedes SL's. Andrew
  22. Cosmic's look great! If you need caps, a friend of mine 3d printed caps, he might be willing to part with the drawing if you have someone to print them for you. Andrew
  23. Maybe a slalom course with bollards? Fire trucks handle poorly but can negotiate a set of bollards near the station to get underway. Mr. Punk would have his face rearranged hitting one at speed. I do like the ones that get retracted into the ground, the ones you see at US embassies overseas and some official buildings. I guess the local municipality doesn't want to give the fire department remote controlled bollards... Andrew
