  1. Looks like no rain for Sunday! Let's see some more 02s out there! https://www.facebook.com/events/952631628089609
  2. There's something to be said about going down to the "bare metal" look! I think it's beautiful.
  3. Bill, Wanted to express my sincere condolences to you again. My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm very sorry for your loss... we, as an 02 community, miss them too...
  4. Guess who I saw driving N101 Sunday 02/15 @ around 3PM passing up in Corte Madera! (this is the 02 with the Jason mask on the front kidney grille!)
  5. Hey there! Thanks for asking about Tesoro! Well... it's like taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back with this restoration... I've unearthed a bunch of history on the car as there's been some bondo work that was shamelessly done and hidden. So the body guys have stripped Tesoro down to bare metal and are doing a lot of body work either, welding, replacing, and straightening out the body for me. It's been a bit of a process, but we're doing all we can to make sure the work is done correctly with quality. The guys who are working on Tesoro have been nothing but professional and working around the clock (til 3AM! on some days) to get the body perfect! I'll be posting updates on my blog in the Project Blog section in the FAQ... I guess if restorations were easy.. everyone would be doing it!
  6. Yay! All registered! See you all there!
  7. I'll see you there! There will be a bunch of others coming too!
  8. Saw this lady driving on 101 S in San Rafael 01/11 @ around 10A!
  9. @katmandu the argument was that they agreed the tow truck driver backed into my car... but why did it roll afterwards? And therefore, they are questioning that if the ebrake was not engaged, could the car have rolled into the tow truck while I was sitting and waiting for the tow... and I find that simply ludicrous because A) "I" was in the car when the tow truck driver backed his tow into my car... and the emergency brake was engaged, and it did roll because after the tow truck driver hit it... the freeway that I stopped on was on a decline (So OF COURSE I am going to put the ebrake on as I couldn't put the car in gear cause my clutch was out) so probably from the force of the tow truck backing into my car.. the car rolled forward a little. It is a 41 year old car that doesn't have all the safety air bags and gadgets or sensors that could stop it from "rolling" after a force like for instance, a huge flat bed tow truck backing into my car...
  10. First of all, I want to thank all the support sent my way for today! I'm lucky to have this kind of concern and kindness from you all. Thank you. I honestly did not know what to expect at court today. I'm thinking it would be like a "judge judy" kind of arrangement where I get to present my side of the story, and then the defendant tells his side and the judge throws outrageous comments and "slam" goes the hammer... and then the judge says "I reward you with.. $$$$". But that was not the case. In small claims court, you have to sit forever waiting for your case # to be called because other people are also in the courtroom to deal with their cases. So of course... out of the 14 cases to be heard... mine was # 14. As I'm sitting there waiting for my # to be called, I look for the tow truck driver and the owner of the tow truck co. but only the owner was present. Which I felt that the owner's testimony would have no merit since he was not at the scene of the accident. So I presented my "FACTUAL" testimony and at the end I said... "I feel it was correct for me to serve the owner of the tow truck co. but the owner who is sitting here today has no personal knowledge of what happened that day because he wasn't there. Therefore I feel that his testimony is heresay." The judge... says.. "well let's just see what he has to say..." So the owner of the tow truck co. basically gave his "interpretation" of what happened and gave evidence of his tow truck driver passing all drug tests, etc.. but the other evidence he had was actually in my favor! He had the phone call conversation with me and the dispatcher at his tow. So the judge will check that out. But I presented all paperwork and pics at the scene of the accident and you can clearly see that the truck driver "backed" into Tesoro. What I am not confident about though, is that they kept going back and forth about how my car "rolled" after the tow truck driver hit it. It obviously did not "roll" into the tow truck as I was sitting waiting for the tow... but the car did "roll" like 3 inches after he hit Tesoro as we were on a decline of a hill on the freeway. So the tow truck driver's argument was, that Tesoro's ebrake was not engaged and therefore ROLLED into his tow truck. And my argument is ...If I'm sitting there waiting for the tow with the EBRAKE ON as I couldn't put my car into gear... the car NEVER moved once and I was also sitting on the passenger side waiting... so how is it that my car somehow "moved" when the tow truck driver was backing into the car... ?? After going back and forth... the judge says that he will look at all the evidence and testimonies and I will get his judgement in 2 weeks in the mail. UGH! So now I have to wait another 2 weeks before this is finally over. It's not even about the money now... it's about the principle of the truth and getting justice for the damages that were done to my car. Everything I said today was the truth and you would all be proud of me as I didn't get emotional or want to jump up and punch the guy in the face or anything.... I'm feeling kind of bummed as I know I could of represented myself a little better. (PS: My attorney didn't make it to my case cause his other case was going overtime.) So I guess we'll just have to wait another 2 weeks..... <sigh>
  11. That steering wheel doesn't have the serif "BMW" ,,, doesn't look too original .. but could be a good buy for someone who wants that horn ring. :-)
  12. Mille Grazie to you Peter! Thank you so much for your kind words and your enthusiasm. I'm very touched that my restoration has motivated you to continue your endeavors for your 02 and other classic cars. And thank you for following Tesoro's build. I find that the information I post is helpful for anyone trying to do the same. Here's to Tesoro and other 02s around the world!
  13. Thank you so much! Yes.. this project has my hands full... but I'm enjoying every bit of it! I too hope it makes it to Brisbane! ;-)
  14. Let's see some 02s represent in the COLD! Hope to see some of you there! https://www.facebook.com/events/307174632824050/?pnref=story
  15. Love reading stories like this! Mr. Chau is an awesome person and friend! Congrats on the baby!
  16. <Due to the Graphic Nature of This Program Viewer Discretion Is Advised> So here is the before and afters of the framerail! I cringe at the looks of it from before! But the masterwelder cleaned it up like new and we are off to body work and paint! Getting excited!!! <<<<BRISBANE OR BUST!>>>> Here you go! For DaveDel82 :
  17. Update! Tesoro is off to the body shop! I miss him already! Claims adjuster is going to give me a lowball estimate I'm sure... but once they realize EXACTLY how much this damage is from a professional body shop... I'm sure the negotiations will begin... Love you Tesoro!!!!! Scott Estes said it best under the comments on my FB...
  18. People have been asking me..."Why the name 'Tesoro'...?" Someone called me that once... or twice... or a few times... and I felt like this was also an endearing and appropriate name for my 02.. especially with all the unique, rare, and custom parts on the car.... Tesoro is my "treasure".
  19. So this gallery pic of me washing Tesoro a few months after I bought him. I had "him" (yes, it's a HIM!) inspected by my guys at Motorspeed West in Santa Clara. I totally love these guys. They are honest mechanics who go the extra mile for you. Their service is impeccable and they do their job well. I have taken ALL my cars to these guys and would not go to any other. Read their YELP reviews. You will not be disappointed with their work. Tesoro had a full tune up, inspection, etc., after I bought him. It was also great that I had most of the history papers of the car from the previous owners. Tesoro had a lot of things that needed immediate attention. For one thing... THE SMOKE. Engine valves needed work. The heater box needed work. And let's not talk about the interior... Don't be fooled! Tesoro photographs well! And he was sooo dirty inside the engine and out! I knew when I bought Tesoro that I would give him the TLC that he needed to become the full potential gorgeous street car that I wanted him to be... Tesoro would be my keeper 02. And I think you know what that means... No matter at what cost or however long it will take me to restore Tesoro... I will do it! I think there will be a lot more car washing days ahead of me, especially for a black car!
  20. I passed through the city this morning... Anyone go on this drive? Who all was there?
