  1. Remember about the price of parts on that car. As said before tail lamps and also recaros, sports steering wheel.... Those transmissions are pretty good I've seen a lot of high mileage cars with good ones.
  2. I have a gray market E21 6 cylinder that came with the Solex 4A1 4 barrel carb and we put in a 2.7 stroker engine on it with that same carb. The car is a beast VERY quick and huge amounts of torque. The carb is delicate but works beautiful if properly tuned. You can get one out of an old Mercedes Benz. Some notes: 1) E21 and Early E30 had regular distributors newer ones had motronic distributors on the front of the engine but kept the original distributor shaft on the block so you can put the regular distributor there! (That's what I did) Just take off the cap, put in the distributor. 2) 4 barrel setup is awesome on M20 but you can always go with 3 Webber 50's or 45's sidedraft! If you need any help give me a call I'd be glad to let you know how it went for me. Konrad.
  3. Not really sure how much you should charge all I know is I want some of those!
  4. Mmmm....well 66k miles and blowing blue smoke? That's probably 466k miles hehe. I would seriously think about it if you are really going for a perfect look 2002 you will have ton invest a bit on it, new grille (painted black) 2002 rims, bits and pieces... And the most important...Engine rebuild! If it was a bit cheaper I'd say jump on it. You can check prices for original bmw equipment on our website and get a rough idea of how much it could take to replace the things you saw wrong in the car www.bimmer.com The black smoke on startup is actually common that's from the fuel mixture being rich. Konrad.
  5. Hey I'd be glad to look em up for you, give me a call. 800-950-2002
  6. Coils per cylinder are great it's no wonder almost all new cars have that configuration.
  7. http://www.hbci.com/~tskwiot/2002.html John Thanks a lot! Now that I found out my Kugel Fischer is trash :`( I need to seek options.
  8. Have fun at the meet! Bring back pictures can't make it to that one.
  9. Congrats on your success! Can you recommend me some good place, article, etc to read on mega squirt conversions how de work how to do it what to expect expense wise? Thanks!
  10. 12311356564 That is the part number I can get it for you for $18.10 cents let me know if you are interested! Konrad.
  11. This actually sounds like the first thing you must check! Have some one turn the ignition on and listen to the "click" from the valve solenoid if its not there suspect a faulty valve. You can take it out and spray it with carb cleaner too. Also as mentioned before if you have points and condenser check and replace if necessary. Does the car stutter before shutting down or does it just turn off all of as sudden?
  12. The real killer is water but as I said before I've seen heads from cars that used water for 20+ years and are still in "good" shape no leaks at all. Still it's mandatory to keep changing your coolant at regular intervals. It would be surprising for most people how bad their heads look without that affecting the engine performance or life it's actually pretty hard especially on these engines to corrode the passages enough to get a problem.
  13. That's really strange I've had cars leak oil everywhere into every part and never had any problems even over long periods of time. Does your car have any sort of aftermarket electronic distributor? If not I would point out the carb as culprit.
  14. Crazy price I don't like the fact that it's all stripped but as a track car its pretty nice! Weight distribution must be real bad though. I have a gray market 320/6 with a 2.7 stroker on it and can say its a very fun and beautiful car, shame the US only got the huge federalized bumper ones with the 4 cyl. And the article is wrong about the 2 lamps on all euro only 315,316,318 were single headlamp per side the 320 and 323i were twin per side (4) lamps non sealed beams. Crazy price but nice find anyway!
  15. Let me see if I can help out here: 1) The switch popping out and leaving hazards on overnight will probably drain your battery this is very common on older BMW's. You can disassemble the switch and push the little lever that keeps it on the track a bit inwards careful not to brake it and that can fix it. Make sure the spring inside doesn't touch the electrical contacts. (Or get a new one!) 2) Usually sounds on the speakers are cause for a lack of a condenser on the alternator which absorbs those odd noises. 3) The clicking sounds is the hazard relay. Check voltage on the battery with the car on and all accessories on it should be 14.0v-14.5v, 13.5v the least! Also with the car off check for current drainage with the multimeter on amps or do the old bush mechanic trick of taking off the negative burner off the battery and just rub it on the battery post and check for sparks. Little sparks will mean there is something draining current in your car. (Make sure all accessories lights etc are off!) I Don't think the speakers are draining you car's battery sometimes if they get in contact with the metal on the rear tray they can make a real nasty loud buzzing sounds and stop working so you might want to check on that.
  16. Hi there, That doesn't look bad at all for a used head, you should see the one I'm running on my car! I've built engines with heads that had been running with water (no coolant) for 20 years and are really corroded and pitted and as long as that pitting doesn't make the passages big enough to get close to another passage or a combustion chamber there is usually no problem. That one looks very well for a used head really! But if you have any problems at all we stand behind it a 150% just let me know how it goes but don't worry too much about it! Worse things on heads are cracks and warps, light pitting won't hurt of course if you do find some heavy pitting let us know. Regards. Konrad.
  17. Same thoughts fast restoration! nice job!
  18. Welcome to the BMW family! Restoring a vintage BMW is a very rewarding experience and I bet you will do just great! Konrad.

  21. Wow that's why I hate working with suspension parts they take a LOT of work and not precision work exactly! Maybe if I had the tools...ahhh i wish I had a sand blaster I know I would use it so much.
  22. Let me know if you already managed to get an answer from Andreas, if not I will be glad to run your vin with BMW group archive and see what info they have for us.
