  1. Ahh the feel is a lot more "primitive" than an E30 and more refined than a 2002 but still primitive enough to be fun. No idea if I make any sense! It's definitively faster than any 2002 or E30 stock car unless its an M3 that would be cool to put against! The torque with the 4 barrel carb is real nice. Handling is just a bit better than the 2002 but worse than E30. It's really nice car to have fun with well built and the 6 cilinder really gives it a lot of life comparing it with the US version of 320i. This is a short vid of pull and sound sorry that the speedo broke and it's real short: (Maes me think how this engine would behave on an 02 but nah too crazy) If anyone knows how the hell to embed movies from youtube I'd be glad!I only get this:
  2. Well the car came with a 6 cylinder from factory so it was designed to cope with it though I got to agree it very tail happy!
  3. Appreciate it! Those are some old pics maybe I can shoot some more when I get back from bayare02 and vintage at vineyards. Can't wait to see the 2002 restored so I can take pictures of them together!
  4. Hi guys so you already know my 2002 Frankenstein from the blogs I thought I should show you my E21. Had it since 2004 original 2.0 6cyl engine died and I placed a 2.7 shortblock on it making a stroker with the 4 barrel. This is my companion to the 2002 and I hope my 2002 is ready soon so I can go take a road trip with my wife on both of them!
  5. Hey give me a call I think I have a work around for that with an OEM part.
  6. Well this weekend I finally got angry enough with the Kugel Fischer to tear it apart! Now it's nothing more than tubes on a cardboard box. Now I need to take off that pump, get a new oil filter housing, hoses, manifold and carb and I'm good to go! It's a shame it has to go but....tooo expensive for a car that's not an original tii. PS: Notice the PVC plumbing the previous owner did! :S Some pics:
  7. For starters URO ones at least I know protrude more from the windshield than original BMW's and they are harder to feel BMW uses natural rubber so it will feel softer. There might be a roundel or a part number on them somewhere but I seriously have no idea! You can ask guys here about some problems with aftermarket seals and the wiper arms banging on the chrome strip because of different depth and also complaints about wind noise.
  8. Thank you, but using all the info I have gleaned from the info available I am pretty sure my seats are #S0001 on the 1974 brochure, which I believe is Part #51-92-1-828-194 schwarz rippencord. You can run that number through your MT database and see if it is still available and how much $, and how soon can we get. Thanks Hey just checked it's NLA. Thank you for checking, guess I will have to find alternatives... You're welcome let me know if I can help you with anything else. Bad luck with this particular material.
  9. Thanks a lot for all the pictures and feedback helped me a lot too. I think I'm going to have to buy some tools!

    Dash cap

If the dash is too damaged why not try the fix on the faq front page with the bondo and the truck bed lining thing.
  11. I played around with one of those steerings wheels on a Williams BMW F1 once and one of the buttons fell off! Good thing no one saw it haha.

  13. That made me laugh! Well brakes, steering and suspension if you don't want to die! Now seriously you can star by doing a tune up on your car change spark plugs, filters, points, condenser, wires (if needed) etc and see how it reacts. Once you know your car is fine tune wise you can start to troubleshoot the carburetor first use some carb cleaner on it it could be filthy that should be part of your tune up. Then you might have to take it apart and check all the things stated on the posts above. Let us know how that goes! If its any help my carb E21 has en electric choke but for start ups its almost completely closed and it progressively opens up.
  14. There is a label below the back seat which should have the interior codes. If you are lucky its still there.
  15. wow congrats! 20w50 is nothing for a car that old with that many miles! You must have kept him very well great maint. I seriously have no idea how many owners my BMW's had probably like 8 hahaha.
  16. First would be checking for continuity on the sensor as said above the you can move on to the relay. We should be glad these cars are old and simple if not we would be thinking about checking the "fan computer" ahhh electronics...
  17. That's expensive! I gotta do that to my E21 btw might do it myself if I find time.
  18. Beautiful car but not comparable to a 507 like the seller says.
  19. I need to do the exact same thing but I thought you had to take the damper off to remove the plastic cover right? I took most the fuel injection off I'm only left with the pump.
  20. A lot of things can cause a carb car to have difficult cold start ups. All my carb cars have been a bit nasty on cold mornings rough idle etc. So I'm used to it! That means you probably have an old worn or dirty carburetor that needs some tuning. Things pointed out on the previous post are most likely culprits. If you are flooding the engine because of too much pump action, depress the accel pedal fully while you crank it and that should start it up. The smell of the fumes say a lot about the mixture too.
  21. 02 with a 6 cylinder should be really fun to look and hear at. 6 cyl sound on 02 chassis sounds cool.
  22. Yeap you just take off a cap where the Euro distributor goes and the gears for the distributor will be there. Sure you can go with a 40 should be enough. I'm running a quad jet 34/34 56/56 4A1. Konrad.
  23. 1 St gear is usually rough on old trans. specially when cold I wouldn't bee too scared of that one. But as said before whines and grinding noises and other gear synchros failing would be a terrible sign.
  24. I would personally stay away from that lots of rust and..rollcage. Probably was an autocross car or something a rollcage is never a sign of good care.
