  1. Sorry to hear about the accident, especially because of how it happened. Gather your information so you know where you stand and be prepared to send it to the insurance company to verify what they should pay. Be firm and businesslike with them, but don't let them BS you. If they say well, it's an old car...counter with so what, you oughta be glad it wasn't a new Benz! Remind them that it was the other driver's reckless actions that caused the damage, it wasn't just a little bump, it pushed the pickup truck into you HARD, look at that picture. Did that woman think she was at a demolition derby? And oh yeah, how are they going to compensate you for your time wasted because of THE other driver. Tell them they can get the money easily by RAISING the other driver's premium. You got rear ended....did you have a doctor check yourself and your child out? Wait for a few days to see if anything turns up before saying you're fine. In short, be nice and firm, and know what you want. Don't be afraid to fight for it, they count on people giving up easily and when you don't, they are much more likely to give you what you want if it's fair to get the case closed. Don't be afraid to be a dick to get fair compensation, it's your right. Good luck, vince
  2. Nice going, Aaron! I remember the car when you first had it... vince
  3. Nice going, Mike. I've been thinking about this car for a while, but really just don't have funds, room or time for yet another old car project, even though this looked like a vary interesting one. If only I hadn't bought that piano last week..... vince Big Rock, IL
  4. Yep, I'd agree with everyone else, it was a fun time despite the weather. Nice going to Chris and Rhonda for all their efforts to put together a fun event, good eats and gather up the oodles of door prizes and goodies. Sorry I had to leave Saturday vince Big Rock, IL
  5. That looks a lot like the '67 Scott and Fran Hughes have/had? vince
  6. Wasn't this car one of the ones owned by Tammi Hull at some point? Not sure if that might have been before or after Norm... vince
  7. Nice going, Nate! That's one more temptation that was out there that I was trying to avoid. I'm glad that you got it, as I know of another closer to me that keeps calling me.....even though I have like 6 cars in my driveway... It was great to officially meet the SCR crew at VatV, I wish I was closer so I could stop by more often. vince
  8. Before worrying about cleaning out and treating your tank, put on another filter and see if it continues to get filled with stuff. You might also want to open your tank by removing the sending unit and looking in the tank to see what you find. vince
  9. Nice pics, Charlie! The car looks good, looks like you've been doing a lot of work on it. Glad to help with the gas cap, no hurry on sending it back. vince
  10. I'm here...at VatV. No problems on the way down, but lots of rainstorms, hope they hold off for tomorrow. vince
  11. Krylon Dull Aluminum works real good as well and is cheap... vince
  12. Hi Mike, I will be arriving in Dayton with Blunt and whoever makes it to his place Thursday evening in time for dinner if all goes well/ vince
  13. I'm planning to meet up with Blunt and possibly you on your way through Illinois, and staying in Dayton overnight. Hope you are able to make it! vince
  14. I'll be there, wouldn't miss it for anything! Not sure which car I'll be driving... vince
  15. Roger, Buy it so I can sleep good tonight. It sounds like a great deal. If it was closer or I had more room and time, I'd have fallen under it's spell, even though I'm not fond of the auto trans. vince
  16. Not in Chicago, but I've had success with this shop cutting keys for other BMWs. Suburban Door Check & Lock Services www.suburbanlock.com 415 West Ogden Avenue, Westmont - (630) 968-4727 vince
  17. Great story! Sounds like he really enjoyed seeing his old car too. vince
  18. Edward, Thanks for the reply....oddly enough I've had 1696447 listed as a granada red rusty parts car in 12/2003 in Quebec from Pierre Longuez. This is partly why I keep track, sometimes the cars turn up many years later. There have been many, many mentions of "real ti", here and there, but curiously enough, very, very few end up giving out a VIN. I have Bill Riblett's car listed. Thanks! vince
  19. Edward, thanks for the delightfully teasing post....might you have noted the VIN numbers of any of the cars/engines besides Tony's, Jon's, etc? Thanks, vince
  20. I have seen the info about the 40 tis sent to CA, not sure if that is entirely correct as the independent dealers were probably not in that good of communication about the number of cars they ordered from BMW. Andreas from BMW can tell us on a single car basis where the car was sent, but I don't think they have all the info set up in a format where that would be easy to figure out. And there were 16,000 plus cars built... Tony, any chance you might be able to ask Edward if he still remembers the VIN of the car he had? Jim, I am not sure yet if I'll be taking the ti or the 535 to VatV. I am trying to figure out how to straighten out the title issue with the 5 and may not have it settled by then. Thanks, vince
  21. M Racer, thanks for the info. I have no info on a car that could have been yours. So sorry to hear about what happened! The only info I have on a car in the south is John Fisher, of Anniston, AL. I've gone through every Roundel, and always keep track of any VIN numbers or credible mentions that I hear about. Still, there are very few cars left, and many of the cars that do turn up are either in terrible shape and destined for the crusher. vince
  22. Hi Tony, Thanks for the reply, was the Edward Kurek? That's the only guy I can think of. Funny, I've never heard of a colorado ti in Wisconsin. Maybe with Oktoberfest being at Road America this year, it'll turn up. Hope all is going well with your car! vince
  23. RIMSPOKE, what color was the car you saw? Any other clues besides a 2002ti badge? Tony, this is not the car that is being restored in Vancouver. Previous owners I know of are Louise, Bill and Peyton. I do not know which Edward you might be talking about. m-racer, any chance you remember the VIN # or name of the guy you sold it to? Thanks! vince
  24. Yes, a real one. I've got some previous mentions of the car going back to 1998. A nice car for someone! vince
