  1. The junkyards I go to never charge me for little stuff like this, even if I'm not buying anything. vince
  2. Don't feel bad about the search, doesn't work well when I try, too. The 19mm front bar will make the front flatter in a turn, if that makes sense. The larger rear bar will make the rear flatter in a turn. The car will seem more stable in turns and hard braking. You will want wider tires. Understeer is straight off, with the front plowing. Oversteer is when the rear end wants to get loose. A larger front bar will decrease understeer. A larger rear bar will increase oversteer. The trick is to balance the two and not overly compromise suspension compliance. I should have let you drive the green ti sometime. It runs on HDs, stock springs, and 19mm front, 17mm rear. I might have an extra 17mm rear bar hanging around. vince
  3. Yep. sure looks like a euro car, not in such bad shape, but needs some proper care... vince
  4. Nice going, Jacques! Your car is the only ti I've ever heard of in South Africa. Now you are obligated to report any other tis you come across in SA to me as well, LOL. While there were thousands made, there are very few surviving today. Since I started keeping the list of tis, even with Richard JD Poole's earlier info from the '70s, there are still far less than 50 cars reported to be existing. So your car needs a few pieces; it's fairly easy to find most of what you need to get the car operational, and once you do that, you can have fun driving it while you search out any hard to find bits you want. Keep us posted! vince
  5. As the others have said, please let us know the VIN #, color, sunroof, etc. ti vs tii, tough to say. The ti is very rare, and so that would be an issue in determining value, but in reality, I would think the level of restoration and quality of work would make the most difference. The buyer of a ti would probably be someone who appreciates it for it's rarity. vince
  6. "hard to find round taillight cars" is a helluva sales pitch! At least he's NOT asking 9K for them! Looks like lots of useable parts there, though. And some good old rust. vince
  7. Interesting contrast, seeing the lone Lambo amongst the '02s! vince
  8. Hmmm, another ti???? Can you tell us more details, especially the VIN, color, etc? I keep a register of them, not sure if I have any info on yours. I never use the wiper wash function on my car, so no idea how it works. Thanks, vince Big Rock, IL 1970 2002ti
  9. Hmmm, what's the VIN # of that 2002ti? I keep a register of them, and know of one that was in Pakistan. It would be real interesting to confirm one in Iran, too! vince
  10. What I've heard is that a good general rule of thumb for air horn length on sidedraft carbs is they should be about as long as the diameter. So of they're an inch and a half wide, they should also be an inch and a half long/high. How much similar this is for your application is anybody's guess. Hope this helps a little, vince
  11. Great pictures, Jon! It's cool to see the cars back in the day! Murray did move to Vancouver, BC. He was trying to sell his ti for 20k+ last year, but I don't know if there were any takers. Probably a fair price for a very rare car in great shape. It sounds like it looks just as nice now as it did in 1988 from what he told me. vince
  12. Here's one from a Euro 1970 2002ti of the original decals by the fuse box vince
  13. Unfinished adventurous project ads like this always make me want to ask if they'll sell it without the non BMW engine, trans etc. Nothing against the V6, just better suited for an enthusiast car that didn't already come with a decent engine. IMHO. It's about 500 miles from me, if I was looking for a project and had room/time/money, I'd prolly be interested if it's a tii. vince
  14. Very Cool! Hope all is well and the Holidays are good up north as well as where you are! vince
  15. Sounds like the strut is no longer absorbing shock. Try bouncing it up and down or driving over a bump with one side then the other side to see if one side feels noticeably worse. Once you take it out, you will be able to tell easily. The bad strut will compress very easily. Hope this helps, vince
  16. I remember this car being in the Roundel, but have never heard anything more about what happened to it since I started chasing after tis in 1996. Might try to call that guy to see if he does indeed still have the car. vince
  17. Hi Dave, I recall that he said he was near Pittsburgh, but that could be almost anywhere in PA. I live in the Chicago area, but I'm 55 miles west of the downtown area, LOL. Plus, he may have moved since then. I''ll try to dig up those pictures again and see if I can make out the license plate and see if there's a way to reverse trace the VIN. vince
  18. Thanks Guys! I was curious if anybody knew of the car; it may very well be the one John has seen. I have found 2002s and interesting BMWs near me that have never showed up at a club event or aren't on the internet, so they're out there, hiding in garages and yards. And I've seen some that disappeared and have never turned up. Sadly, even though I keep almost every email I get for some reason or other, I must have deleted the one about this car. I will continue to search for info, maybe I'll be able to turn up a VIN, but I doubt it. I confirmed that when my brother sold it, it had a white driver's side door, which would have made it real obvious unless someone had it painted.. Stay warm and dry, vince
  19. Hmmm, sounds a lot like Rob Siegel's car... vince
  20. I recently came across some pictures of a Mintgrun 2002 that my younger brother had when he lived in California, probably about 9-10 years ago. He eventually sold the car when he needed less of a project car. A few years ago, I got an email from a guy who had acquired the car, and if I remember correctly, he lived somewhere near Pittsburgh, PA. The car as I remember it had, I think, a white driver's door, some miscellaneous dents on the body, pretty much NO rust, a worn out interior, 205/60/13s on stock steelies. Any ideas who it is/was? Thanks, vince
  21. Woke up yesterday morning (Saturday) to find 8 inches of snow in my driveway, waiting for me to do my shoveling. The green ti is sleeping in his garage. So I work on the other projects when time permits. vince Big Rock, IL (55 miles west of Chicago)
  22. Otis, great post! It's interesting to hear what it's really like there as opposed to a glossed over, cleaned up version. A friend who's into vintage Beemers goes there every year for a charitable effort, and he makes jokes about little old cycles carrying 4-5 people, and the general driving riding conditions. You did a great job of describing the conditions! Thanks for enlightening us! vince
  23. Nice going, Mike! One of these I haven't yet allowed into my collection, but the temptation is always there. Thankfully I have plenty of other projects keeping me poor... Hopefully I'll be able to make Vintage again this year, but will definitely be at Oktoberfest. Happy holidays! vince
  24. I've been hanging onto this for years, and have never found a car to use it in. It's a later console, in very nice shape, with the ashtray and the shifter surround/boot. All the screws are present, but have surface rust. There are a few small nicks inn the vinyl sides, three that I could find. The ashtray holder and plastic shifter surround have some broken tabs underneath that aren't visible when installed. The astray handle needs to be replated or painted. The boot has a tear in it. I have no idea what it's worth, but whatever I get for it goes to car stuff. I'll start by asking $200 plus shipping from 60511 (IL). If that's too high, please straighten me out by making an offer. I think I've attached a couple of pictures, email me for more or better ones or with questions at vstrazzabosco@yahoo.com Thanks, vince
  25. Glad you're okay, that's the important part. The board will miss you if you leave... The car might be saveable, though it won't be cheap and not just anyone could fix it. With the way people are replacing quarters and trunk floors and noses, it might be something to check out first. John Weese had a real nice tii that he bought and carefully had rebuilt, I think the front end was worse. vince
