  1. Damn Le...that sucks....glad the Tii wasnt there! Happy BDay!
  2. I have a rattle in my shifter when I hit about 6k RPM....Is there a fix? Its the stock shifter in a 4 speed....I was gonna do a 5 speed so I was going to live with it, but I may keep the 4 speed for a bit longer so I thought maybe there is a fix.....
  3. I have always referred to them as two thousand two's.....I am also 40 and remember them as new cars when they were quite common and almost everyone knew what you were talking about. Go to Pep Boys and ask for parts and you will get very puzzled looks...or the customary, "Not the year, the model...."....Just 02 is fine for BMW enthusiasts and twenty oh two has been used to describe them as well.....
  4. Not a complete answer, but here in Socal some 76 gas stations carry 105 octane fuel AT THE PUMP.....so maybe look into a few 76 stations there and see if they carry it. Its usually just one pump and its filtered in with the regular pumps....it just says 105 octane....
  5. If you know something about the seller or car JUST SAY IT....dont say watch out and then not say why...thats the point. Not a huge 'BUYERS BEWARE' and then no info on why....
  6. I just installed last week a set of E21s Recaro seats ad they sit about an inch higher due to the adapters...any easy fix? What have others done if anything? I would love my legs to be more straight out than up when seated....Thanks....
  7. Nope....not always the case. Use the SMALLEST pipes you can that will give you enough airflow for your engine. That is why race headers on a stock engine gives you LESS power. So it depends entirely on the engine and the power its putting out. If you need more flow than the smaller headers (doubtful) then the bigger headers will do the job, but my money on anything short of a 3/4 to full race engine is the smaller headers.
  8. Those are NLA Alpina Recaros...worth BIG money...keep those...get them recovered....I was looking for a set for 6 months...had to settle for e21 Recaros...
  9. Also front brakes are larger and the brake booster is smaller to allow for the FI system. The struts are beefier and allow for the bigger brakes.
  10. Yes the release is on BOTH sides of the seats, but the adjustment knob is on just one side....I actually though t it was a good idea to have them on the right side so I could easily adjust the seat back position with the door closed...i.e while driving....with it on the left side, it would be a bit tough....
  11. Hmmm...ok....thx....they were marked wrong....I'll switch them....
  12. So I had these seats sitting in the garage for a week now...and I was going to wait until I could install the new carpet kit, but it was killing me so I installed the new front and rear seats. Fronts are e21s Recaros recovered in marine blue and the rears are recovered to match the fronts. A HUGE improvement over my originals....love them...The only thing I gotta do is get a new knob for the passenger seats and then paint the mounting brackets which are red.
  13. I THINK its level....it just looks like the back is a tad low....hmmm.....maybe I'll put that other pad in there and see...I just like it low and want to level it out.....but maybe raising the back wont raise it too much.
  14. Here is a pic as of this morning...its close, but I think I want it about 1/2" lower in the front. Its got stage II Ireland springs with no pads on the fron and just the lower pad on the rear. I really like the rear height, but I think the front is a tad bit high...thoughts? Oh and how much should I hack of the front coils? 1/4 coil? 1/2?
  15. OK so I decided that the front of my car is still a bit too high and I like the rear height so I am going to cut my Ireland Stage II springs so it drops it just a bit more....I want about 1/2" drop...how much of the spring should I cut off? 1/2 coil? 1/4 coil? 1 coil?
  16. So its probably my f'd up install of the sunroof interior panel. Instead of removing the side rails, I slid it in from the front. This probably bent it a bit....so now its REAL hard to open and close where before it was smooth as butter....so I will pull it out and see if I need to try and straighten it out...any ideas?
  17. So my gauge just stopped working. Doesn't move at all when you turn the car on. It's dead. The temp is working. I checked the lines in the trunk and I e was loose but it didn't change when I secured it. Is there a test for the fuel gauge that will help me narrow it down between the sender and the gauge itself? Anything else to check? I checked to ground on the instrument cluster and all seems ok there.
  18. i did it in my 69 and LOVED it! I started with 73 red-dot springs which i was told were the stiffest springs, but later was told in fact they are the softest to start with. In any event I started with 1 coil on each corner (cut off) but ended up taking .75 coil off each front corner also, to try to level things out. I ran for five years with Bil HDs and the cut '73 springs and never looked back! Great ride and handling.... Spend the $200 elsewhere, like on the Billies.. Nice ride height.....what air dam is that? And are those 14" or 15" rims? I think I am about to cut my springs in the front....just a bit...just enough to drop it another 1/2" or so.....
  19. Yup can be done pretty easily....there are places that sell kits and places that will do them.
  20. I have decided not to go the euro bumper route and keep my diving boards. But I do want to move them closer to the body. Whats the best way to shorten them? I have heard to compress the shock and thats it...I have heard about the TEP kit, and I have heard of compressing and drilling....so whats the easiest and best way? Thx....
  21. Congrats! Just curious why you went with the EFI conversion vs. a well sorted carb setup....it seems like it would be cheaper and still yield great results...at that price you could even do some head and cam work....would love to hear about the other options you looked into.....looks like a very nice install.
