  1. Car is using Ireland Stage II springs front and rear and Bilstein Sport Shocks. All pads on the rear, 2 dot, no pads on the front and 1/2 coil cut off the front. If I had to do it again, I would cut the front by 1/4 coil, not 1/2 coil....I think the front is a tad low, I will probably put a pad in the front to bring it up just a tad....
  2. It was a nice day so I took some pics....the car handles amazingly well...its just the slow speed stuff that has gotten tricky....at 0-5 mph it rubs just a bit on hard turns....and the spring rate has increased so the front is stiffer....here are some pics....I may want to raise it just a touch....but for now it stays...more things to do than worry about 1/4" in the ride height....
  3. My site has tons of the old ads in the gallery....cool stuff.... htttp://www.project2002.com
  4. OK...went on a few drives today and WOW.....it feels great...no rubbing at all except going into my garage....its just a tad bit stiffer but not at all harsh. Handles great, and looks great....I am very happy with things....I am now seriously considering the zender spoiler.....
  5. So I have been a bit unhappy with the height of the front of my car. I have been adjusting and it seemed a bit high. The rear was just fine....so I cut 1/2 a coil from my Ireland Stage II springs....Here are a few pics...height looks nice to me...maybe a tad low...lol...lets see how this works out for the next few weeks....I may have to address a few rubbing issues now as well....So the setup is Ireland Stage II front and rear springs, no pads on front, 1/2 coil cut from front springs. Bilstein Sport shocks front and rear. 2 dot pads in the rear.
  6. That link isnt the ad.....its YOUR link to edit or remove the ad.....You could be opening yourself up for someone changing the ad without you knowing...G/L with the sale.....
  7. I plan on getting the car painted soon...so are there any tips to prepare the car? Is there anything I can do to save a few bucks and do some of the work myself? There isnt much rust, a little surface here and there....also about how much should I be looking to spend for a nice paint job, not concourse just a very nice paint job.....
  8. Damn Le.....I am tempted......what are you looking to get?
  9. I would love to see the 15x6 Reverse BBS wheels.....
  10. Looking for a good set or DCOE's for a 2002....drop me an email if you have a set... john@project2002.com
  11. Interested...but I cant email you....email me at john@project2002.com
  12. If the fuel gauge works, i'll take the fuel leveling sensor on the fuel tank.
  13. Sounds like the Oil Pump went. BUT it was going from the beginning. If you got the flickering oil light after drives at idle it meant your Oil pump was not performing up to snuff and when the oil was hot and thin, it was not pumping enough...hence the light. You basically masked the problem by changing the idle speed. Then drove the car until it went out. The question is was any other damage done? Have the pump checked....
  14. NICE!!!!! Cant wait to see it in person...Congrats!!!!!!
  15. 2002s are VERY solid cars. The engines when taken care of run for hundreds or thousands of miles. Parts are not at all hard to come by in my opinion, in fact because of the internet, I have had a far easier time on my 2002 now than I did on my first on in the early 90s. What you should do BEFORE you buy it is find a shop near you that works on them. Since you wont be working on it, you should find a local mechanic that is very knowledgeable about them. Then ask him about your particular car and maybe even have him look at it. No rust on an unrestored 2002 is impossible. There is rust there...whether its structural is the key....so knowing WHERE to look for it is important.
  16. Oh and since you have a 76 your car has to be able to pass smog so engine mods and swaps may be problematic. That s also why you had lowball offers. Unless they have a plan or will take it put of state it has to have all the smog equipment on the car to pass smog and register in California.
  17. This is probably not what you want to hear but here goes. Nothing will just drop into your 02. There are ones that are easier than others. The two that are the most popular are the s14 from the e30 m3 and the m20 baby six from 70s era BMWs. So that may not be too much newer. The problem isn't just the engne but also transmission and fuel systems and wiring and electronics and in some cases cooling. So expct to replace alot more than an engine for a motor swap. What the easiest and least expensive is to buy a M10 engine recently rebuilt. I got one for about 1000 with a cam and head work and hi compression pistons. I then got a new carb clutch transmission distributor headers and exhaust and was looking at closr to 4k total. Now the car is my daily driver and is as reliable as my Lexus. A motor swap would be at least double depending on the motor and what it needed. An older bugger motor may be in need of a rebuild as well which may cost you a few grand on top of the motor cost, install, and additional parts. Look into the m10 options first. Lots of good used engnes out there with a ton of life in them
  18. So you are saying my 02 is safer than my Lexus because it's not modern? Ok. Well thanks but I am an audio professional and I do like music so an audio system will be installed. I just wanted to know what some people did in their 02 to get some ideas. Thanks for the saftey lecture. :-).
  19. I am looking for options as I am about to embark on the audio system. Currently there is no radio so I am looking for ideas on what kinds of systems, amps, speaker placement, etc....I want good sound, not necessarily loud, but high quality...will be using iPhone/iPod for most of my music, some radio, hardly any cd....Already have speaker holes in my door panels and under the rear seats so I will probably use those locations....Anyone have a concealed sub? How about the rear deck? Also how much power can I run? There isnt much electronics in a stock 02...so how much is too much? Is a 4 or 5 channel anp and a head unit too much draw?
  20. Mine does that too...started AFTER I installed springs and shocks....one thing I know I did was overtighten the sway bar links....so check those. Make sure you do it on the ground, not with the car in the air. I am 99% sure that is why my car does this. too much pressure on the suspension from the sway bar links being too tight...others may know more or have other causes...but thats what my money is on....
  21. I plan on cutting my Ireland Stage II frot springs. I will be doing it with the front end on jack stands and using a Dremel tool. I have a few questions and hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction. 1. What Dremel attachment do I need to cut through the springs? 2. How much should I cut to get an additional 1/2" lower. Here is a pic of my car from the side....maybe it will give you an idea on how much to cut. I just put my rear lower spring pads back on to day and the rear is slightly higher than the pics, but not much...maybe 1/4"...
  22. Is it a REAL Tii or one rebuilt to Tii specs? When they said big drum rear upgrade that leads me to believe its not a true Tii, just a 2002 with a Tii engine and upgrades...if thats the case its a bit high, in fact it still may be a bit high unless the engine is rebuilt and runs VERY well...for 4k and a salvage title, I'd expect a very solid car the may need ONLY paint. Also if you are looking for a nice driver, not really into the resale value, 4k buys you ALOT of car for a standard 2002...and remember a standard carb'd 2002 with some nice bits can be faster than a Tii....so performance wise if you are looking at engine mods the Tii may not be the way to go....
