  1. My favorites, the BMW Art Cars... http://www.bmwworld.com/artcars/ http://www.worldcarfans.com/3030321.001/1 Tom
  2. Nice addition to our part-finding options. Thx. Note: site appears to be based/hosted in Russia (at least the large images carry a .ru address on them). Might wanna be cautious...
  3. FYI - You can get 'glas fenders, hood, trunk and doors for 02s. Tom
  4. Phil, Your Isetta always impresses me... See you around, hopefully sooner than later. ;-) Tom
  5. Pat, Maybe this diagram might help? (kinda hard to read, I know) Tom
  6. Michael Cahsel sells 'em. www.bmw02.de Likely not cheap, esp.with shipping. Here's a pic. Part number might be what the lens reads: Bosch K8401 ? Tom
  7. Pete, I think those are JAP (J.A.Pearce Engineering) "Magna" wheels, used on some late 60's vintage Brit cars (Coopers, Imps, Jags) and also some VWs. Also common on Brit Group 4 racers of that period (though wider!). VERY rare... Magnesium...mmm. (as such, they're porous and need a seal coating). I saw a set once on wheel-whores.com -- yes, I might have a problem ;-) Tom
  8. The OEM Tii dizzys have a slightly different (better for Tiis?) advance curve than the non-OEM models. Remanufactured dizzys may match stock, or might be different. There's more than one '008' and more than one '002' BMW 2002 Bosch distributor part number (some are even vacuum advance/retard), so I'd suggest you use/look for the 'whole' part number vs. just last 3 digits. FWIW, these are all the OEM Bosch Tii mech adv dizzy part #s: Part#___________ MfgDates ______________ Advance Info 0 231 129 037 __ May71-Sep71 Euros 0 231 151 008 __ Oct71-Jun73 Euros, Dec72-Jul73 USAs __ Full Adv=32crank deg@3500rpm 0 231 151 009 __ Jul73-Jul75 Euros __ Full Adv=43.2crank deg@3200rpm 0 231 180 013 __ Aug73-Jul75 USAs __ Full Adv=31crank deg@3500rpm *013 can also have vacuum retard There is an "002" that is a Non-OEM mech adv unit. 0 231 188 002. It's supposed to be excellent for large/dual-carbed cars, though it's cited by some as as not as 'ideal' for real Tiis even though it's sold as a replacement Tii dizzy. It's claimed to have a FullAdv=34crank deg@2500rpm. I believe this dizzy is also found as Bosch part ID48X. HTH, Tom
  9. There are several different Bosch part numbers for the Mech Adv only distributors. (Some OEM, some remanufactured.) I believe the mech adv dizzy's came in Ti, Tii and Turbos (& Alpinas), but also a few other 02 models. Most look for the late Tii ones or reman of that. Yes, they work with PerTronix, but some need a different model PerTronix. Tom
  10. Bet it's the mechanical spring switch at the back of your emergency brake handle... Tom
  11. Holy batmobile, Pedro!! That's my dream ride too! Hey - let's get 52 of us FAQers together and buy it as a time-share, 1 week of use per year...(j/k) Tom
  12. CJ's 02 is likely lowered vs. raised 1-2inches. Beautiful car that's very well setup. I really like his choice of rims/tires and his other mods/tweaks. And I bet it rides/handles awesome. 02 each their own... Tom
  13. If so, how's it working for you? Yep, my daily 'fair weather' ride. Love it, drving these cars is ALL the fun. Miles per year? 7500-8000 or so Overall reliability? My 02 is VERY reliable. Regular maintenance/care is easy. 'Vintage car' wear-& tear repairs/replacements are expected though. "Go faster" & "look/work better" enhancements are optional and may improve/hurt reliability and maintenance. Do your own work or have a mechanic? Yes to both. Small and regular stuff myself. Bigger things, maybe myself or to my trusted mechanic. Tom
  14. Nice job, Daniel. Your vinyl covering looks like it came out great too. What did you use for a template for the sides - your old console or did you just measure it up for fit 'in-place'? Tom
  15. The site is 'Bosch Automotive Tradtion' (kinda like our own BMW Mobile Tradition). http://www.automotive-tradition.de/en/wissen/ausruestungslisten/frameset.htm Select Passenger Cars, Manufacturer = BMW. Search. Then treasure the list of 210 PDFs of Bosch OEM Equipment lists for 1500s thru 1502s (and everything in between, and beyond). When folks ask Bosch Part# Qs on the FAQ, it's a pretty easy lookup to get the DEFINITIVE info - year, model, etc. type answers from there. So bookmark it. ;-) --- That being said, I don't see an OEM BMW 2002 model entry for your cited Bosch dizzy part #: 0 231 168 021 (JFUD4). The closest number I see, 0 231 168 013, is listed as being for a US bound, Automatic BMW 2002 manufactured in Nov 1974. (and 0 231 168 017 is listed as being used on a 1976 320 and 520 4cyl). So maybe your dizzy is a replacement model - or maybe it was an OEM Bosch dizzy for another car/model. The one sad thing is the PDFs are unsearchable, scanned bitmaps - so you may have to open and view lotsa files to look up that part number. (But hey, the info is invaluable nonetheless - kudos to them). Just look under the "Zundverteiler kontaktgest" section of the files for dizzys. Have Fun! Hope this helps, Tom
  16. On the Bosch website they have info on all their parts that were OEM on BMWs, incl all the 2002 models. In those listings, they even provide the BMW model numbers and the dates of usage for each part. HTH, Tom
  17. Drivin' 'em is SO much more heaven than fixin' 'em. ...Proverbs 20:02 ;-) Tom
  18. Hey Andy! So this is a 'Boomerang' 2002, huh? ;-) Looks sweet. Betcha even better once you get Bo's ex-rims on there. L8R, Tom
  19. Lee - will do, probably early next week. Thanks, Tom
  20. Hi Lee, I've been looking to do a windshield sunscreen 'banner' on my 02, and trying to locate a place to make me something custom. I didn't know you did that, could you give me some contact info and or pricing for making me one? (and let me know if they need to be applied before installing the windsheild, of they can be applied afterwards). Thanks in advance, Tom
  21. Looking really nice, Brian. There's always lots of time to 'tinker' once it's drivin'. Tom
  22. Thanks Harry/Barry. Sure looks like it wouldn't be ANY fun to ever be in a head-on in that car... Tom
  23. Great fun. Thanks for sharing this vintage chase, Norm... That car the got hit oncoming sure collapsed like an empty beer can, what was it? (see pic) Tom
  24. Hi Steve, I'm also running the low pressure/high volume Carter 4070 pump with my dual 40 DCOEs. And I don't run a regulator. Fuel delivery works great for me at all levels of throttle/rpms. I also don't have any issues with excess fuel, needles, etc. And I rarely have any noticeable 'buzzing' - only when it's very cold and my isolation mount is stiff, and even then it goes away after a couple of minutes. I also get pretty decent mileage, with all my performance mods considering --18-23mpg on average as my DD. FWIW, I don't run a 'return line' set-up either - maybe that's a factor with those who found it had too much pressure? (Maybe that affects the 'self-regulating' feature?) Tom
