  1. that he took a bare tranny to Kinko/Fedex and that they packed it and shipped it fed exp ground for a very reasonable amount
  2. I stacked 5 or 6 small washers on both cable ends at the brake handle, so when I tightened the nuts there was no slack. This worked great for a few years. Later I did a big brake upgrade with 320 drums and pads. I had to remove the washers to get the cables to fit the new 320 brake pads. Emergency brakes work great now.
  3. that he and son Billy and brother Jim were coming and would get to Eureka Friday Afternoon.
  4. a week from Sat, there is a BMW Round Up in Tyler, Texas. Ya'll Come. http://www.bmpdesign.com/events/roundup06/ contact me if you are coming
  5. Mine would idle up at start to 2000+ and slowly idle down to the correct range. Then it started not idling down low enough. Stayed up at 1500 or so. After a lot of experimenting and reading I figured out that it was the decel valve on top of the air box. There is not a lot of info about it anywhere. I took it off and plugged the holes at both ends and now it idles normally. The decel valve holds the rpm higher than normal to burn to help with emissions. Iknow they came on 74 USA Tii. I don't think any 75 Tiis were imported due to emission standards.
  6. He had big wiring diagrams for US Tii for $8. It was not color plenty big. He did the TII registry. I think Keith Kreeger is taking over part of it but I don't know who has the wiring diagrams now.
  7. My advice - call Crane . Their help line is great
  8. My earlier posting was wrong. It is on the driver's side not the passenger side. But if you are laying upside down on you back and that was a few weeks ago, you might think it on the other side.
  9. I had a similar problem. My temp guage was irratic. It would jump around and then settle down. When I would turn on the aux fan, the tempt gague would read higher than before. I added a groud wire from battery to each gauge as covered in FAQ. It did not solve my problem. Finally, I added a ground wire from the battery to the altenator and that was the fix that solved my problem.
  10. My spot was on the passenger side of tranny right where the wire clip attached to the top of the tranny. There was a slight protrusion from the casting that the wire clip attached to. Sorry I don't have a picture of it. Iwas was closer to rear of the tranny than the front. On the top edge.
  11. Just put in my 2002 automatic speedo cable so it would reach my 5 speed. I pulled rubber off cable , installed rubber and then pushed cable thru rubber grommet. Works better than the screwdriver method. But just below the hole for the rubber grommet there is another smaller hole thru the firewall. Mine has nothing it it. What is it for? I need to plug it somehow.
  12. My back up light switch worked fine. wires did not touch tunnel. But where the wire clip, attaches on passenger side on top of tranny, there is a small portion of the tranny that sticks out. It was rubbing on the steel brake lines at the top of the tunnel. I took out tranny and ground off the area with a grinder. Then, I did not use any clips on my wires. Wires did have to be extented by about 6 inches to reach the switch. Be sure to connect wires and install clutch slave before you jack tranny into place. Be sure to check front seal of tranny before you install it by turning the front of input shaft with an electric drill. Mine leaked from the seal housing. I used locktite gasket eliminator to seal the metal to metal contact and used no gasket.
  13. I believe you should mount tranny and mount diff in the middle of the bolt holes and then measure the flange to flange distance before you shorten driveshaft. That worked for me. Then when first tranny was bad I installed a second 5 speed. Then the shortened driveshaft was not an exact match.. I had to loosen the diff bolts and slide it forward 1/16 inch. Not much but I would have thougt it would have fit exactly.
  14. Removed jack stands about 10 am this morning. That's cutting it close. 5 speed works!!!!!
