  2. So I am about to get a haircut and my son calls me on his cell. He is in Northern Mississippi on Interstate 55 about 100 miles South of Memphis heading North about 3 pm today. He said that they just passed a white BMW 2002 on a trailer. It was a roundie. Anybody know who this be?
  3. by a radiator guy to use black laquer. It is supposed to conduct heat better than enamel.
  4. I boucht a 5 mm bolt and a 4 mm bolt at Home Depot for about a dollar. I cut the threads off each. I welded a rod on one to reach to the side of the pump. They worked great and the price was right.

  8. I have the eastwood roller. It works great but I was unable to do it without cracking the paint on the lips of the under side of the fenders
  9. I used one from an assortment kit . It fit and is still there. I also bought some OEM spares from a 02 supplier- 2002AD i think
  10. I found GL4 hard to find. Most of it is GL5 which has too much sulphur for our brass syncros. NAPA sells a GL4 oil in a gal jug that is pretty cheap. That's what I have been using.
  11. I bought an antique Louisiana plate about 10 years ago for about $100. It never expires, unless I sell the car and since I have had it since 1978 that's not gonna happen.
  12. I put 900 miles on it the weekend of MidAmerica fest. Watch posts . There may be a Hot Springs meet in Aug or Sept. I also tuned my Tii with a co2 analyser and it runs better now than it has for years. Where is you engine and tranny going for rebuild? Are you having tranny done too? You might want to put in a 5 speed instead for rebuilding a 4 speed.
  13. Blunt, I bought a spare to rebuild. It has taken a long time to get my parts together. Make sure the roller axle shaft and the worm gear are good. They are expensive. If you need either one it might be best to buy a rebuild for $400 +- $175 core. The groves need to be in good shape and the shafts need to have a good fit where it fits inside the 2 brass bushings in the lower end of the steering box housing. There is also a brass bushing in the cap where the top of the axle shaft rides. I had to fnd a good used cap because mine was worn. I replaced upper and lower seals and top gasket. I also replace both bearings and both races. I don't think replacing all this will give you any more adjusting room with the screw on the top of the box. I think that wear on the axle shaft is taken up by that adjustment. Having replaced the bearing and races, one side of each bearing rides on the worm gear. Mine had some wear where the bearing rides but a new worm gear is about $200. The bearings price is like $46 each but 2002AD has an alternate source from somewhere. Their price is $7.42 each . The races are $28 and $19. The races are different although the bearings are the same. If you have any more questions, just let me know. This is my first rebuild of an 02 steering box bit I have rebuilt the box on my 1930 Model A Ford. I am amazed at how similar they are. Tiger75
  14. Sept is packed. I have 4 home games.. Sept 16 is open . How about August 26 or August 12?
  15. I put together steering box last night. I let sealer set up last night and filled with gear oil this morning. No leaks so far and it turns real smooth. Ok so now what my excuse for coming up there? I spent about $100 on parts to rebuild. Beats $400 for a rebuilt one!
  16. http://www.2002ad.com/storeworks/view_item.cfm?id=1612 or that http://www.2002ad.com/storeworks/view_item.cfm?id=1522
  17. I got an email from Rob Tores 2002ad and he said to drive my Tii. Maybe we could put the co2 anaylser on your car and sip brews while we wait for it to stabilize.
  18. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1811&mospid=47171&btnr=23_0647&hg=23&fg=15 On right side of rear housing cover of tranny, there is a spring loaded screw cover with a spring and a contoured pin on the end. This plug and pin must be oriented exactly right for tranny to go it to reverse. This spring gives you the click over feeling when shifting to reverse. I found that shifting into and out of reverse continually while screwing in the plug kept it in the right place. I had to install it several times to get it right. Test tranny with an electric drill before installing it. See real oem for drawing. It is 1,2,3 and 4.
  19. I bought a single deep socket at auto parts store for $5 or $6. Then it took about ten minutes on a grinder to make it thin.
  20. Last night my son had on a 2002 t-shirt that I gave him. It was one of those "Driver Found" from 2002haus with an 02 on the back. He was in Chelsa's Bar in Baton Rouge and talked to a guy named Steve that has a 2002 and works on several 2002 around Baton Rouge. My son did not get a last name and the guy does not read FAQ. Anybody know him? I would like to contact him. Need phone number or email address. Tiger75 Timbucktwo@sport.rr.com
