Keeneland Concours pics

Just got back from the Keeneland Concours in Lexington KY. While I missed out on the vintage races in Pittsburgh, I did get to see some nice old cars.

Lora and I drove the museum's '63 3200S (502) all weekend and enjoyed a lot of stares! When you park a Baroque Angel next to a Dino and get more interested looks than it, it's kinda cool...

Of particular interest is a '72 tii - it was a one-owner family car, Euro delivery in Frankfurt, and never before shown. All original except for tires, battery, one fuel injection hose, and an underhood pad relaced at the dealership upon arrival from Frankfurt. Bruce Hall of West Virginia transports and shows high-end cars for clients, but this is the first time he has shown his own car. It was his father's, who apparently passed away about 13 years ago. He knows it's nice, but does not really know much about BMWs - fortunately, his kids know what it is and will not let him sell "grandpa's car".

I told him that he may get inquiries due to it's originality - that it would be a great baseline reference for restorers, and he said it was fine to give out his contact info. If anyone wants to get in touch, let me know at and I will get it to you.

Hope this link works...

I had thought of going to this event, but only had one night off from work. It was too much driving from Dayton to Lexington & back so quickly. My friend entered his 911 in the show.

Dave, thanks for sharing.

Was Jim Hall his father and lived just north of Charleston?

I was chasing one of his cars a few back and we lost touch with each other.

Can you pass Mr. Halls info to me?

Bruce was the fellow who supplied me some braided fuel line that he bought at the Ferrari shop in Winston-Salem.

Ha, it's cool to see that Aston with paint on it in just a few months. Here it is at the Hillsborough CA Concours parked right next to our "Lemons" '76 2002.

and in the set from DavinSF...

I also have a very early '72 2002tii that my Parent's bought new. It's 2760007 and I also do work on 2760001. It would be great to compare details on these early 2002tiis.

Doubt that that's the same car (Aston) if the date on that photo is correct. This one has been undergoing a year-long resto, with a newly fabricated bonnet structure, swapover from RHD to LHD, new floors, battery box, etc. Work was done less than a mile from me by a friend, and it had been on a jig since early Feb. 2008 until late April of this year, when it was immediately shipped to the California Mille for a shakedown.

My '72 did not have the seat belt light & buzzer. What gives? This was something that started in '73 to my knowledge.

Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down.

While 2760007 did not have the fasten seatbelt pod atop the dash it did have the buzzer under the steering column just not plugged in. I have worked on 2760048 2002tii and it had the fasten seatbelt pod atop the dash. Also have worked on 2760011 and while my Parent's #7 does not have the VIN tag on the steering column #11 did. While my Parent's #7 had dealer additions like Anco bumper bars Shelby Slot Mag wheels and an Ansa sport exhaust it was missing it's sway bars when new.

Ha, different door numbers. I thought so, because I was told that the bare car is owned by a collector from another part of the country and is being kept in California simply to participate in rallies out here like the Mille.
