sound deadening?

i am reassembling my 75 and was considering trying sound soaking/deadening materials in interior... 

couple of questions...

is this a good idea from a weight gain vs. interior sound quality?

any preferences for noise or 

where are the best locations, and how many locations should i use, to put the material?

Also, welcome to the FAQ!  We tend to be pretty friendly around here, and take more of the "teach a man to fish" approach.  Lots has been covered, but if there's anything specific... we're happy to help.  Note that BMW themselves varied sound-deadening tactics, that is to say there is no perfect "right" answer.

Don't do too much sound dampening, or you may find yourself wanting a louder exhaust system.
