What did you do to your NK this week?

I'm Back at it!
It's been along time since I posted my progress. Mostly because there hasn't been any. I installed the Abarth exaughst, engine, driveshaft, had a new core put in the radiator all in the last week. Just waiting on some ignition parts from IE to complete the job. Hopefully have this car running withing a couple weeks, maybe less. Here are a couple pics of what it's looking like to date. Oh and I'm still looking for a driver side door brake if anyone knows of one.

I'm not digging the blue hoses as only half of them actually fit the car. Got the blue ignition wires to match but at the end of day all black would of kept it looking all original. 546a6071dfd8cf67f0a590ddd3973b9d.jpg5bf1738222fd396341578cd719393e71.jpg22babcc840bbdc71820bc78fcbaa8990.jpge24de86b3c7d50860b185b6bddb52f80.jpg

Yes im putting the original air box on. Regarding the breather filter. I'm trying it out as I'm not fond of the oil building up in the air filter housing. I'll be experimenting with what to do. Are there any benefits to venting it into the air box?

"Are there any benefits to venting it into the air box?" Otherwise you have to put it in a can or so But no other benefits i can think off.

I did some carpet work the last days. The carpet is so new, I need to start on the seats now :)

This weekend I finished disassembling the front subframe and cleaned up the ARB for reinstall.  I still need to degrease 1/2 of the subframe and am waiting on a hardware kit from W&N before re-assembly, but it's looking great!  Even found some touches of original red paint on the ARB after degreasing it =) I killed my Dremel using it with some wire brushes to clean the rubber-contact areas on the ARB, but not until right as I finished, so at least those surfaces will be nice and smooth.  Lots of degreaser, lots of wire brushes, and LOTS of elbow grease this weekend.

Fully disassembled, but still greasy:

Rare factory-installed NK 2000ti ARB:

Detail of the cleaned-up bushing surface on the ARB, it was full of crud and corrosion:

Half-scrubbed!

good work. do you find those little dremmel wire brushes last about 5 minutes, or is that just my cheap knock-off brushes?

HAHAHAHAHA!  5 minutes, AS IF!  I get maybe 2.5 minutes out of them, tops.  Mine are cheap knock-offs from Amazon ?. They work for what I need though.

nice clean up! I use diesel and a brush. Than remove loose mateterial with a screwdrive orso. Afther that: wheel cleaner and high pressure. Works well!

I'm sure the diesel does a better job, but the fumes! This purple stuff works great, just takes a little patience.

Good luck, exciting step with upholstery.

I have no worries... This guy has done many vintage BMWs for friends, e9 Coupes, 2002s, mostly repeat customers, too.  Quality work, and very lucky for me, he's 5 minutes from my house, so I can be there when he has questions.
