I don't know if anyone's done a post like this before on here, but what's your daily driver? And how many miles are on it vs. the originality of the parts?

Mine's a 1998 Volvo S70 T5 with 220,000 miles- Original engine, transmission and turbo.

My dd '87 Jeep Cherokee "Chief". It's not pretty, but it gets the job done with character.

240,000 miles on the body, but only about 15,000 miles on a new crate motor. Other than the motor, just about everything is original except the shift knob and wheels/tires (not pictured below).

hyundai santa fe - 2001. bought it new, and now have 281k on it. it's been a good car. change oil, etc - routine maintenance!

lately I only drive it when it rains to keep the 2002 dry, but it's a reliable car for sure

I rotate...White 95 Volvo 850T wagon, with about 130K, Kota's (Pyrnees/lab mix...faster, faster..) favorite...Dark green metallic 2000 Volvo V70R wagon, (Humberto calls it "bigfoot" when it comes out to play with the 02Group..and she keeps up!) AWD, 185K and it's FOR SALE...White 03 Chev V6 4WD shortbed pickup with 124K. Love both the Volvos, but don't need two all wheel drive vehicles. Probably should sell them both and buy a really nice 122s wagon, so it could go on Haggerty with the bmw's...

My Daily Driver was supposed to be the 2002 - LOL

BUT I like this old girl too much to take it out in anything but clear weather.

SO I am on the hunt for something $2500 or less.

ARGH - starting another car search after just finishing one is not fun.

Any suggestions?

PS. I drive 25k miles per year!

I hate to say it, but look no further than a Volvo! 850s are a good car for your budget. Here's one for $2800- 300 over your budget but ready to take on the 25k a year.

My S70 was bought in 2008 with less than 70,000 and now has 220,000 with no major repairs other than timing belts! The S70 is just an 850 with an updated body.

If you're interested in looking at these, I can help you find a good one. Let me know where you live/if you're interested in one. e-mail me please. They can be had in a turbo, manual transmission, wagon, sedan, cloth, leather... etc etc. Rock solid dependability!

Back to daily's :D

That sounds great. I could use the help, and will do some digging on my own as well.

I would like to spend less but dont want a problem either. I like the volvo's and would pay more to drive one over a reliable used honda. I have an '05 Oddysey and '10 Civic. 206k on the oddysey (bought it new). 67k on the civic (bought it new) but selling it!!! I decided to replace the civic with a 2002 and a beater BOTH for thousands less than the civic will sell for. Soooo...that puts me one step closer to being debt free (the reason I am doing all this).

If I can drive some cool older cars along the way, why not?

What's suppose to be my daily is an 86 Chevy K20, but... it sorta spit out the cam plug so I gotta remove the tranny and all that fun to put it back in.... All this 175 miles after I put the motor in there... (Old motor was wearing out and I felt like a turbo.

The 2002 has been my daily since I got it 3 years ago until i came down to school this year, now I run the diesel.

My daily is my 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R. It has the original engine, trans, and as far as I'm aware the clutch as well. Even at 186K miles the SR20DE engine, close ratio trans and LSD make this car a beast. Other than the breakdown moving to Oregon, the car has been super reliable and a blast to drive. Awesome car.

The day I bought it for a measly $1200

Yeah, it's pretty freakin' small!
