  1. So I bought my 76 2002 in October. I was high for a season. The high has worn off and I don't think I will be keeping her. I was hoping to find a car to get excited about again, something different you know? But alas...It's in the garage under cover and I don't even miss it! Anyone else find themselves with the bimmer blues?
  2. Mannheim is only about 45 mins from me. One of my close friends is a dealer and there every week too. This is the worst time of year to send a beauty like this through auction.
  3. wowie I wish my engine bay looked like that
  4. That's all the info he needs thank you.
  5. OOH man just when I thought I would leave my bumpers alone. This is a good deal. Now I have some soul searching to do.
  6. Looks like what the park bench's should have looked like
  7. I have a friend coming over to adjust the timing on my '76 02. He asked me to find out what RPM's the timing should be adjusted at? I did a search and went through the FAQ but did not find it. I did find a reference to 1400 rpm here http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,368328/highlight,timing+adjustment/ Anyone know?
  8. That kits is awesome. So where do you guys buy the bumpers? I've looked online and cannot find them.
  9. Try this: http://www.my2002tii.com/spring_2005/rearbumper.htm
  10. Man that looks good! Which front spoiler is that? Thanks! It's the Kamei replica. I think there are listings here on FAQ. Someone will chime in, I'm sure. I bought it from Perrier (Sp?) He makes the replicas. They are much better than the original, as I had that in the past too. I thought so but wanted to be sure. I am already talking to him. Do you have any closer pics of how you mounted it?
  11. Understood, and thanks for the heads up. I do have two new rockers which came with the car. I need to find a shop in my area who can actually do the work. I'll get on that this week :-)

  13. After pricing these out I've decided the chrome bumpers are just too expensive. I would either delete both bumpers if I do a full respray and fill the holes in or keep the park benches I currently have.
  14. Cool, thank you. I need to rethink what I am doing. What started out as a simple rust repair quickly turned into custom work with a full body re-spray and I just don't think this is the time or that car for that. I just looked at your car on your original post... tough call. I'd definitely get your rust repaired before it speads any further, when you can of course. No way to accomplish that with the repaired areas getting painted, only? looks like the nose and rockers? Scott Scott - I started a thread on the subject. Still wrestling but will likely just fix the rust. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/p,974360/#974360
  15. The rest of the car is in good shape and I enjoy it. The rust bothers me but I don't think enough to spend $5500. Perfect paint does not make the rest of the car perfect (and it would not be nor would I spend the money to make it so). I'm going to try to find a shop that can just do the rust and color match the paint. I've never kept a car longer than three years. This is not a DD so I might be able to hang on to it longer but it's doubtful, so therefore not worth the investment. I think. Here are some additional pics of the car. New Steering wheel on its way: New Wheels & Tires (picking up Saturday)
  16. SO I got a quote from a shade tree body shop guy (retired guy who restores classic cars). He has a huge book of business, ton of photos, three month waiting list to see my car. Seems like the real deal and comes highly recommended from a buddy of mine who owns a dealership and uses him on the side when the right car calls for it. My quote to repair the rust below, delete and fill in the front & real bumpers as well as the knee molding and a complete respray with two coats and three coats of clear is $5500. My goal was just to get the rust repaired but he does not feel comfortable color matching my paint becasue of the color. I would love the have it all done but I am thinking it is too much money for the car based on it's value. Just doe not seem like a wise investment. Thoughts? Here is the rust:
  17. Wow that makes my engine bay look like a amish wagon (obsolete)
  18. Not sure where the rest of our the thread went but it was was spark plug wire I mixed up.

  20. Ahhh! stupid plug wires. Misread my own writing. Its all good now. Timing is set, vaccuum is good. Plugs are now in rihht order and purring
  21. I just installed a new pertronix, new plugs, new wires. Followed the directions in the box and the forum FAQ section here. Now the car idles rough and misfires when you throttle up. What am i missing? Ive double checked the distance between the sleeve and the ingitor. Ive made sure they were flush and spaced right.
