Your car is around 40 years old. How old are you ?

Well, I'm not sure why this old thread of mine got resurrected after almost a year, but I thought I would bring the statistics up to date. We now have the ages of exactly 100 members who chose to reveal themselves and here is how we break down by decade;

<20 years old = 7

20-29 years old = 19

30-39 years old = 14

40-49 years old = 20

50-59 years old = 17

60-69 years old = 11

70-79 years old = 3

Average age drifted down just a bit from my first calculation to 38.23 years old

As I said last year when I posted these numbers as it appeared the thread had run it's course, I think the spread of ages says a lot for the broad appeal of these little cars, and the fact that so many young folks are joining the ranks means this hobby and these cars will live on for many more years.

I'm just 5 years older than my 74 (manufactured in Nov. 73), 45 for me and 39 for her. I've had her for exactly a year.

I was 27 when I bought my first 2002. A '76. New. So that must make me ... older than dirt.

I bought my first 2002, a 1972 in 1978 when I was 25 and living in St. Louis. My current car, also a 1972, is 41 years old. I just turned 60 in June. Photo thanks to the gifted Tom Jones.

I was filling up this past weekend, and a young kid asked me what year my car was, and I replied that it was "a '72." He then asked, "Do you mean nineteen seventy-two?" Yikes. I felt pretty ancient as I pulled away in my rolling relic...
