1974 BMW 2002 turbo

He joined 6 days ago and this was his first post? I'm guessing this is someone just jerking our chain! If it was real I hope who ever has it now has a clue and does the right thing with it. Sounds like Soltan was just going to turn it into a pile of junk anyway.

Well, it IS April fools day, after all. (Where I live, anyway)....

This is not a good enough April Fools joke to give him a "buy" and let him start it 6 days early. I'm still betting his was/is jerking our collective chains..

I think someone stole the car to save it from being sodomized.

Sorry to say, but that would actually please me. Maybe there is a such thing as a "good thief", though my 76 is no indication of that... It's been stolen 5 times and had the Hella foglights stolen, 8 track and then a blaupunkt radio, once the clutch slave cylinder (wtf?) and the aftermarket alarm chopped right in half. Boston crooks suck!

But from the sounds of it there's really nothing on his car to steal except for the car itself...

Did you ever find your car? Did you ever find the title and check the VIN? If it really was a turbo chassis you should spend some energy to find it. If you can give us the VIN we can keep an eye out for it and maybe even help you recover it. The turbo community is very small and we try to look after each other, if a strange chassis number shows up we usually hear about it.

Otherwise just go find another '02 body and do what ever you want to with it.

Hey hey everyone, let's tone down the negative vibe on tributes and clones here okay?

I am thinking about running for the self-anointed president of the North American faux Turbo club.

Not everything has to be motivated by profit ya know.

*** all sorts of disclaimers appply***

***sarcasm***

***for amusement purposes only***

***not a legal spokesperson***

But what do I know

No negative vibe on tributes or clones here. Just trying to figure out if he actually had a real turbo chassis, and what happened to it. If he was building a clone and wanted to put a M3 6 cyl I would encourage him to do what ever he wants to with it. If it is a real chassis I would encourage him not to chop it up.

Hey Byron,

just having fun with the forum to keep thing light. Hense the disclaimers.

I thread of mine got all back and forth about my car being a tribute yadda yadda.

Sometimes it's hard to hear the humor in text.

On a side (exhaust) note, do you happen to have a spare turbo distribuotr?

But what do I know

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
