  1. Another option... BMWCA GGC has scheduled a CnC on the 15th from 9-11am at Alices Restaurant up in Woodside. Not my first choice as I’ve found The GGC group to be mostly focused on later model bimmers.
  2. If there's interest from Sac and Bay Area '02ers, a good halfway meeting point would be in Vacaville. There is a CnC held on the third Sunday of the Month. That would be the 15th of March. The venue is in the old town parking lot by the library. General turnout is modest (maybe 50-100 depending on weather and time of year).

  4. This beauty just got listed on BaT... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1968-bmw-1600-gt/
  5. Very nice! I was fortunate enough to have bought mine from a friend. Nothing better than to buy a car from a trusted friend with a known history. He set a fair price and it was a done deal. He was happy knowing the car would be well taken care of. Win-win for both of us.
  6. Kristo, Your post is stale, but if you’re still seeking advice, here my ‘02 cents worth... Decide if you want to sell/negotiate direct to a private party or auction it through a third party. If the former, consider posting ads on local/regional bmw enthusiast sites (such as this one, BMW CCA, bimmerforums), followed by larger audience sites (such as Hemings). If the later, consider Bring a Trailer, where ‘02s regularly come up for sale and past sales/prices are archived to help both buyers and sellers determine market pricing. Read some of the archived auctions to get a sense of the questions and comments the BaT community can throw out there (it can be a tough crowd, especially for sellers who don’t make full disclosures on their cars) In either case, it will take time and effort on your part to get the best price for your car. Another option is to attend the BA02 Swap and Show in May and put a 4Sale sign on it in the swap meet lot or on the show field. Have you tried to sell or sold your car yet?
  7. Pierce Manifolds offers two different electric fuel pump choices. https://www.piercemanifolds.com/product_p/wfp-502.htm https://www.piercemanifolds.com/product_p/99009.131.htm Mine is mounted under the car near the front of the fuel tank; pressure regulator and filter are mounted on the front bulkhead where a tii fuel filter would be located.

  9. Anything a previous owner modified is a potential foible waiting to become a short or open circuit, leave you stranded or at worse, result in an electrical fire. Be sure to inspect and correct anything that looks questionable with properly sized, rated and installed components.
  10. Provenance and VINs are important. This must be a record non-tii price for what is essentially a resurrected "donor" chassis. Hopefully the buyer is happy; the seller should be grinning ear to ear IMO.
  11. It baffles my why the car wasn’t registered with the stamped chassis VIN from the “donor” 2534320. There are plenty of other ‘02s out there for a patient buyer, especially at the current bid level (which is getting into nice “tii” range.
  12. Sounds like the swap a tad bit more than just the ”fender wing.”
  13. But I finally had to read it to find out what all the fuss was about a post titled “Please Delete...”
  14. Yes, quite rare... this was best example I could find... would have preferred Taiga but finally “settled” on a very sweet ‘73 in Malaga.
  15. The cover is supposed to fit one-way. There is a wide groove, one-quarter around on the inside of the cover as a guide and stop for the internal plug. Coolant pressure will push on the plug for tight shut-off. Since the valve was installed backwards, pressure will push on the closed plug away from the brass valve body and coolant may leak by. When the valve is installed with the arrow towards the cabin, coolant pressure presses the plug into the valve body for a tighter seal. I rebuilt my valve with a kit, If I could re-use the original valve plug, I would and just find new O-rings to replace the old hardened seals. Unfortunately, the plastic stem's squared-off peg end had rounded corners so the control lever had no grip on the shaft.
  16. A couple of the more unique “02s” at Legends...
  17. From my experience, judges prefer consistency of presentation and the story behind the car that supports it. If there is no preservation class, an original, unmolested car with patina may do just as well as a nut and bolt full restoration. But it’s hard for the judges to ignore the as-new or better than factory shine of a correct restoration. If your car already has new replacement parts and trim pieces polished up, you’re probably best to continue with that theme and replace your wheel centers. Otherwise they will look out of place and candidates for point deductions.
  18. Anyone down in SoCal headed up to Legends of the Autobahn, willing to pick up a retro roof rack in La Miarad from “Reese M.” and deliver to me in Monterey? Willing to negotiate a fee for the courier efforts.
  19. I had to do the same in both corners and used 3M Super Weather Strip (#03602) with good success. The hardest problem was scraping off all of the old adhesive on both the body and rubber seal surfaces to get clean smooth surfaces to work with. Other than following instructions, I did use masking tape to secure the seal in place until the cement was fully set. The corners haven’t lifted since.
