  1. Loving it longtime. Sweet mintgrun or taiga metallic (tough to tell which) with bottle top alloys and all the lights & reflectors, knee trim, waist trim, bumpers, CA blue/yellow plates, with an eager beaver GTV6 right on its ass!
  2. You don't seem to know what you want your car to look like, and that you have never seen metallic paint before. If you haven't already, perhaps you should just give them your credit card and let them have their way with it. Another option - whether it's metallic or not, if you don't like too shiny stuff, have it wrapped in matte vinyl.
  3. The BMW 2002 tii US VIN 2763808 was manufactured on April 16th, 1973 and delivered on April 18th, 1973 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Türkis metallic, paint code 065
  4. Just a guess, but maybe they changed the reflectors for modell 71? Mine are like the new ones you bought.
  5. Yes, some cars were black, particularly the later years, like yours, from what I've gathered. So, OP, never mind what I said about painting your subframes in the olivegreyblack. There are countless posts on the subject, and who really knows, aside from assumptions and lore that turn into "truth", later to be debunked, see the recent book by Jackie Jouret "The BMW 2002: The real story behind the legend".
  6. Dead end post resurrection. @eurotrash What's that olivegreyblack paint code?
  7. Looks like Tom Jones on top of that heap ?
  8. Nice one man! Just be sure to use the correct grey-green paint when repainting those subframe pieces! Don't cheap out and use Rust-Oleum or your car's value will take a nosedive and you will be ridiculed by the Wizards
  9. It's not a stock BMW 2002 color...definitely not pastelblau. Do you have a strong longing for this color on your own car? If you are adamant in finding this exact color, find the owner and ask by doing what you can on the interwebs and word of mouth. Otherwise, work with a body shop to find something similar. That's about it man.
  10. You could always ask the seller if the spare tire well and back seat floor have been replaced! But that would require an eBay account, and additional typing, clicking, etc... ?
  11. They were really, really lazy Looks like black. Lazy work. What color are tie rods supposed to be? Not black? They did half ass a lot of stuff on this car. Agreed. Lazy asses.
  12. Maybe you ARE goin' blind, man. Who in their right mind would completely disassemble an 02, put it on a spit like a pig with lipstick to get roasted, stripped to bare metal, repair all the metal and paint it with fresh, luscious turkis metallic and then put it all back together for $49K? Insanity...blindness...can't t..y.p..e no mo'
  13. Looks decent. Why did they not paint the full underside? You're welcome for acquiring the pics you wanted, man! Are they what you knew they'd be? You could always send the seller a message and ask why there is not a pristine coat of turkis on the underside Curious to what shocks those are? Monroe? PepBoys? They sure don't look like Billy HD's, that's for sure. Again, you should send the seller a message and ask, you might get an answer, maybe they are silver-painted Boge's? Wondering if those axles were refurbished, rebuilt or just cleaned up and painted Ask the seller and report back It all still looks to be the work of a 'flipper'..cutting corners after dropping so much $$ on the fancy seats/interior and nice paint job Lots of people buy and sell cars as their main gig. They often don't know what's factory correct and uninformed buyers get "ripped off". People also buy and sell cars as a side gig, like many Instagram Influencers/Tastemakers, for extra cash. If you asked me what it is worth TODAY I'd say 30k tops Nobody axe you but it gonna sell for and be worth whatever someone gonna pay for it - you know the drill, riiiiiiiiigt?
  14. Yes! You are on the path to Wizardry, I can feel it. Keep the insulation foam if you're feeling nostalgic - even a new one could easily tear when installing unless you are super careful and have the patience of a murderer on death row. Try a VW outlet like WCM for the dome lamp if it's the same part #, might be less dinero to buy as a VW part instead of BMW
  15. Just pull out the foam insulator and toss it, give the poor pedal box some ventilation. OEM replacements may even still be available for <$100 ?. Non-sunroofs, i.e. standard sedans, which some like to refer to with the more recent, trendier moniker "slicktops" (somewhat homologous to calling a modern Touring/Sports Wagon a "longroof", but since most came with dual sunroofs they could be referred to as "longroof non-slicktops") do indeed have the basic, more affordable, rectangular dome lamp - one bonus to having a Plain Jane 2002. The fancier oval-shaped lamps came on the "non-slicktops".
  16. Did you mean to say you bought a used Fuel Tank, and NOT a radiator, which you fixed with seam sealer, because it leaked in a different area that was OK to fix without welding? And the main point of the post is whether your original tank has value even though your commercial welder neighbor said not to try to fix it? IDK Since you're in New York, perhaps you can contact someone in "Waste Management" to take care of your problem...??
  17. Gosh, what can a guy do?! Buy new and keep your fingers crossed! ? The new core must have placed eventual unbearable stress on the original tanks standing proudly, but on the precipice of developing full-blown pinhole leaks in that 36-39 year-old radiator in 2012-2015! One can hope, and wish, that the W & N High Efficiency radiator will still be doin' its job like a champ in the years to come.
  18. Omigod it's like, I knowwwww, riiiiiiiiight?
  19. Lying/being modest, what's the difference? ?‍♂️ Next time don't be such a lazy Wizard - put on your unlicensed BMW roundel-embroidered, synthetic blend ski cap, take your magic wand (a poor condition Italian front turn signal taped to a dipstick will do) and do some clicking and typing. I took action and contacted the seller and got some coveted pics of the dark underbelly of this fresh ride. Let the carnage continue. It has been legend that Gollumheide has the original gauge rings, 5x13 steel wheels with correct date codes and pristine full wheel covers hidden in the hills near the Salton Sea. Take this adventure, @iinca or choose your own.
  20. I understand where you are coming from. Was a pressure test performed prior to your 2012 rebuild and no leaks found? In my experience, often times aftermarket/reproduction parts are of subpar quality versus an original rebuildable item, so can also be a crapshoot. Surely you'll be noting how long the newly constructed radiator lasts, with regards to how often the car gets used and frequency of cooling system maintenance.
  21. No doubt rebuild prices have gone up along with everything else. The heavy duty W&N radiators are ~300+ euros. Maybe the same thing BluntTech is selling for $420. Unless I was pinching pennies I'd vote for reusing what I have instead of buying more stuff, and helping these disappearing businesses stay in business.
  22. Before you even THINK about being promoted to Wizard Apprentice Assistant II, you can't just sit aside and not take action. Since you want more pics, you are now tasked with the dangerous adventure of contacting the seller of this car on eBay, requesting additional pics, and reporting back with what you have acquired. Do you choose this path?
