  1. Those are cool, hope you find one you like.
  2. The Außenlackierung-BMW decal on my November '72-build '73 is not in the usual location above the VIN plate in the engine bay like most of these cars. But, I've seen others located where mine is. Anyone know why some cars have them placed in this location? I searched the topic and read a few old threads about it but I didn't really see a solid answer, so now that they're "worth more now than ever before" I thought someone might have some updated info. Thx.
  3. Who cares. F BaT. Buy a 2002 to drive and enjoy. That's what they're for. There's nothing else like them.
  4. I think it would be helpful, Mike, if you would just put all of your columns up in a blog on here, instead of asking people to PM you? Just a suggestion.
  5. Like @Charles in PA said, just go have fun, unless you're looking for a trophy. Although "Concours" (not "Concourse") translates to "competition" - ? I don't know anything about your car and its "period correctness" or "upgrades". Your profile pic looks like you're running some sort of modern 8-spoke alloy wheel, which many consider an "upgrade", but are not "period correct". Report back after the big show...
  6. You highlighted your disgust for the Roundels on the front fenders. Thanks for the cut and paste 507 history lesson, though, bro.
  7. accidental double post due to posting time restriction. please ignore
  8. Have you ever seen a BMW 507? Look it up, they were built before your early 1600's. That was the inspiration to Z3/Z8/Z4 up to a point...
  9. Man, I wanna buy some wheels from Mr. Frankfarter. Sounds like a solid dude, totally trustworthy! TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
  10. I love the 308 GT4...but I'll never own one until I can afford to buy two of 'em
  11. Mike it's always so nice of you to offer to send people your past Roundel columns. But, is there a reason you don't just upload them here on the FAQ? Legal reasons? You should add them to the Technical Articles section, IMO...
  12. Really nice car - the underside is spotless. The only things I would have done differently would be stock 5Jx13 steel wheels (or the "soup dish" FPS alloys for SpongeBob SquareTail cars) instead of the 5.5Jx13 E21 steel wheels, and to have done the upholstery in Marine Blue vinyl (from World Upholstery?) to match the door panels instead of the lighter blue leather
  13. Consider finding a good used complete door handle, and having it re-keyed to match your ignition and passenger side. Whoever re-keys it should get the internals de-gunked and lubed in the process. I had a set done by a locksmith in Berkeley on University Ave - I think they were called Longs. Maybe there is a good locksmith that specializes in automotive locks & keys in your area? Worth a shot.
  14. If this is the case, why worry about replacing the relay? FYI, when I replaced mine after a failed attempt at tearing my old one apart to repair it, I seem to remember the bracket on the replacement pump was different orientation than that of the stock 2002 style, since I believe the replacement part was really made for a different car (VW/Audi I think). So, you *might* need to actually use an original bracket - could have sworn that's what I did -
  15. Nope, they are not CMR/Borrani's - Unless that is the company that made wheels for VW in the mid 70's? I don't know. They have the appearance of the E21 steel wheels, with a different offset than the 2002, if you've ever seen that. I don't know the bolt pattern for Mk1 Golf/Scirocco etc. but that's what they look like. and, yes, widened or offset from stock.
  16. Have you determined if it's the pump and/or the relay that's causing the problem? If not, that's your first action to take. No use replacin' what ain't broke Also state what year is your car
  17. Are those widened 1st Gen VW Rabbit/Scirocco wheels

  19. They're MOMO alloys, bro. Unofficially known as "Cloverleaf"
