  1. It's been a long time but I think my car had a clock and no tach when I got it. It was a luxury oriented 4 speed car sold to a Tampa doctor with A/C and a sunroof.
  2. I vote for clutch not disengaging for the 1st gear problem. this could be poor bleeding or a slave or master cylinder. Try this: On level ground, muscle it into first. With clutch depressed, if car creeps the clutch is not disengaging. Then take it out of first, pump the clutch several times and see if it is easier to engage first. If so, try bleeding clutch and look for leaks in hydraulics. Regarding the dieseling, this could also be caused by a worn carb throttle pivot or built-up carbon in the engine or a scored cylinder.
  3. That is fantastic. I love posts like this because I can show them to my wife to make me look sane.
  4. Ok, how did this page get 57 hits in 20 minutes? Move along people, nothing to see here. Blunt is not going to call me a deadbeat or reveal that he slept with my mother. At least I hope not!
  5. Got your email. I will contact offline.
  6. I was unaware that you could get real leather in a 2002. Why didn't more people order that? Sure beats pleather.
  7. It's your car, do what you want. Just don't think that making it into a racecar gets you halfway to a restoration. The mods to make it into a competitive racecar cannot be easily or cheaply undone. Some people will take a nice car, install a cage, and stick on some numbers and go vintage racing. That is fine if you want a high-speed parade car. If you want to run anywhere near the front, you will need to invest the same or more work and $$$ than you would for a full restoration. If I really wanted a 2002 racecar, I would spend $20K on a nice one that some other sucker spent $35K on. Well no I probably wouldn't because I like to engineer my own stuff and get a kick out of driving something I built. But I would buy a solid but ratty squaretail and go for it. The sad truth is that it does not pay to restore ANY 2002 at this time. If you got a free tii and did all the work yourself, you would invest a bunch of money and 500 hours and maybe break even. So you are not doing it for an investment you must be doing it because you like it. Just decide what you will love doing the most.
  8. I rarely spill if i stay with the pump but i like to wash the windshield while filling. Will these adapters allow you to leave the pump unattended?
  9. There were no factory a/c systems. All were dealer or import agent installed. Since they were dealer installed they were designed to be add-ons. That said it is still a Behr of an install.

  11. Maybe another Lands End catalog. The deal should be: Loan us your car and get a date with a model of your choice.
  12. Shocking! Much cooler than a Leaf.
  13. aesthetics are subjective! I agree. Would you rather look at a fuel rail or these bad boys?
  14. If your pictures are larger than 500kb, a good tool I use to view and resize pictures is irfanview. Stupid name, great program. And it's free. Click below. www.irfanview.com

  16. Congratulations. You have sparked vitality into a formerly lifeless shell. What are the licensing requirements in Quebec? I would expect it would be like California with stringent pollution inspection. Is that true?
  17. I think they are far enough apart to not pose a problem. Nice car!
  18. For those trying to read the bumper sticker. Yo La Tengo 2376360. May she rust in peace.
  19. They are used all the time by cheapo rental car agencies to retrieve the cars. You attach it to the front of the towed vehicle. Tie off the steering wheel straight so it doesn't steer itself. The towed car becomes a 4 wheel trailer. These things are ok for short trips if you are really careful about attachment. For a longer journey, rent a tow dolly or trailer. Or drive the thing. I drove my car to the paint shop like this. No windows, no bumpers, no brake lights! It was so cold I had to wear a helmet to keep my eyes from watering. Trust me, if you come up on someone in a stripped-out crapwagon with no glass while wearing a crash helmet, people WILL get out of your way!!
  20. Suspension Techniques (ST) springs, Bilstein HDs, 14" BBS wheels, 185 / 60 Kumho tires, stock spring pads, Ireland big sway bars, new suspension bushings and rear subframe mounts. No rubbing, no wheel spacers, no fender rolling. Ride and handling are perfect for a touring setup - crisp turn in with just a little body roll. Lots of compliance over the bumps.
  21. What is the theory behind this? Does it clean the engine before the test or some other effect?
