  1. I spent a lot of time looking through realoem for the gasket that seals the 25.4 mm master cylinder to the '02 brake booster. For the life of me I cant find it. I looked in the 2002 section and the E32 750iL section. Can someone help me out here? Thanks.
  2. Just ordered 2 x 25' rolls of 5/16" aluminum fuel line from Summit. Thanks for the guidance blunt. Are these the clips you used? #8? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1113&mospid=47309&btnr=16_0301&hg=16&fg=15 Im going to have to consult you about your oil cooler setup in the near future. The logistics of using a large aluminum radiator along with a pusher fan leave no room for the OEM oil cooler in the nose where I had originally planned for it. Your setup looks perfect and 8x8 should be plenty big for the track. Ive been taking lots of pics along the way. I'll post them all when its running. Having an unfinished car bothers me enough already, an unfinished blog would just enhance the annoyance.
  3. Thanks for the quick and detailed response. I assume you went stainless for aesthetics/longevity purposes. I'm kinda confused as to what needs to be flared. I thought you just terminated the metal lines a few inches from the fuel filter and fuel rail and then just used high pressure rubber hose to connect? I like the aluminum look as well, just thought you were trying to stay away from anything racecar-ish on this build.
  4. I'm really digging that rear battery holder/brace. Any plans to powdercoat it? Quick question for ya. Ive decided to not be lazy and redo my fuel lines. What diameter and type of line did you use? Did you just pick it up from a local autoparts store? What total length did you end up using? tia.
  5. I am fairly certain the OD and CR 265s are the same length. If you read some posts on s14.net, there is never any mention of having to swap the driveshafts when upgrading to a CR tranny. Im using the 265 OD tranny and will let you know in about a month, if the M3 driveshaft works unaltered. It better otherwise Im going to pay Nick a little visit...
  6. Is that a 10" electric fan you were able to fit in front? Spal?
  7. Pictures of your throttle cable bracket solution pleeeeaseeee.
  8. Very nice. Do you plan on going with wider FG fenders on your car Lee?
  9. For those of you who have done the swap, you know that there is not very much room at all in front of the motor, especially if youre installing a thicker-than-stock radiator. Have any of you cut the fan clutch thread off of the water pump? I could really use that extra 3/4". I just want to make sure I'm not going to ruin my water pump by doing so. Edit: Well I guess this answers my question.
  10. Wow, really nice numbers. Do you have any laptimes youre willing to share?
  11. Wow, any pics of your rear setup? What does the car weigh?
  12. So how'd the car feel in general? Do you feel the S14 gives the chassis the right amount of power? Have you weighed the car since you did all the lightening? Any laptimes you want to share?
  13. Yes, that is where the pan interferes with the frame. Although in my case I took a dremel to the frame instead of altering the pan more than what is already shown in that picture. I dont believe that part of the frame(it isnt really the frame, more like a gusset), isnt all that important to the structural integrity of that area. Again, this is just my opinion, I will keep a close eye on this area and strengthen if need be. The actual frame rail will need a little bit of metal cut out of it regardless if you make the modification youve drawn above or not. Its just the nature of using the S14 pan. In the picture youve drawn on, the flange on the left will contact the drivers side rail but like I said nothing that cant be solved with a little metal removal. I believe I took ~97mm out of both parts of the shift linkage. I have not put this in the car yet so Im not sure if it will fit. Nick Vyse told me he took out around 1", so that is quite a large difference. I am using the complete M3 driveshaft, but again I have not put it in the car so I cannot tell you with certainty that it will work. Sorry I cannot be of more help, this project is on hold for me right now while I get my other car back on the road.
  14. 3300 lbs and ugly, no thanks. I'll take an e30-s52 and/or an '02-s14 anyday.
  15. My pan looks exactly like TJW's. I actually took this picture to my machinist as an example.
  16. I had my S14 pan modified by a local machine shop. Turned out excellent, I will post some photos when I get home. Looks exactly the same as the picture posted earlier. I am also using the baffle made by John over at s14power.net, completely encircles the pickup. I did have to do a little bit of grinding on the driver's side frame rail to clear the pan, but no big deal. It also inteferes with my IE swaybar but that'll easily be solved with some 1/2" blocks of aluminum to lower the bar. If you read the beginning of the thread, I believe Ian stated he had some fitment problems with the VAC pan. I dont mind paying 1K$, but for that money it better fit perfectly. I believe my solution will be sufficient out on track and cost me a whole lot less too.
  17. Oh please. Adding 1 LITER(I drive a German car, therefore I speak in metric units) raises the level of oil by about half an inch. Youre kidding yourself if you think there's not already a large frothy tornado of oil around your crank. Raising the level of oil by half an inch is not going to make hardly any effect on that condition. If youre so worried get a crank scrapper. Oil pressure also does not rise much when doing this, therefore the whole 'you'll blow out seal' argument goes out the window. BMW Motorsport recommended this for S14s in street cars used on the track and demanded it of factory teams running the S14 in race trim. I dont think it would be any different between a solid lifter motor and one using rocker arms.
  18. BMW Motorsport recommended a 1 L overfill of oil for track duty. Ask anyone out at the track. One Liter past the Full Mark.
  19. Wouldnt that setup cause the speedo to be off while going through a corner? Thats when I find myself looking most often.

  21. Moe, Does your halfshaft hit the exhaust when at full droop? How much ground clearance do you have? That first picture makes it seem as though you dont have much at all.
  22. How much clearance do you have between the water pump and radiator? Also, with the radiator pushed that far forward, which electric pusher fan were you able to fit in the nose?
  23. Lee, what hubs are you using in the rear? I'd like to continue our discussion on my brake situation, please email me back.
