  1. Harv and JK: What size wheel and tire are you guys planning on running?
  2. So which one do you turn quicker laps in?
  3. Moe, Where did you get those two coolant hoses and the metal sensor pipe to attach the hoses together?
  4. The new M3 is larger in every dimension except wheelbase than the E39 M5. A car weighing >3500lbs, which I guarantee this one will, is not a sports car imo. Although this car will be awesome for sports car racing ala ALMS and Speed World Challenge. With improved aero, quite a bit more power and the ability to lose at least 400lbs in race trim, it should be a contender against the P-cars and Ferraris.
  5. Where is all of the extra weight in the later cars located? I know the doors are much heavier along with more sound insulation. Any other areas?
  6. F1 cars weighing about the same, with the aide of massive aero downforce and extremely optimised suspension geometry, still need what, 14" tires? Extreme example but you get the point. Bob Ball, who has without a doubt the fastest M2 in the US,(and Im not talking about in a straight line) is running 10" wheels I believe. You need to get his build information and pictures. He posts on bfc once every ten years. Lee should be able to answer your question soon. Now that he's going Mod, I wonder if he'll be going wider. Lee will probably be 70, I'll take 71.
  7. Its really not that complicated http://www.my2002tii.com/spring_2005/rearbumper.htm
  8. Awesome car, but youd think with all the work that went into it he wouldve put some fender flares on it to fit some bigger rubber. Nick, did you have to cut as far aft on the tranny tunnel as the guy with the silver car did?
  9. Why the remote oil filter setup? Not sure if its just the angle of the picture but does the oem setup not fit?
  10. http://www.vorshlag.com/wheelstuds.php So these should work with both early 320i front hubs and non-tii rear hubs?
  11. sorry but e30tech is horrible for reliable technical information unless its how to build a junkyard turbo setup r3vlimited has a wonderful thread stickied in their engine swap sub-forum for DOHC swaps that will answer any question you have. There are countless people on there that have gone through the swaps and a whole crapload more going through them right now.
  12. Not any different than an '02 radiator. I dont think an aluminum pipe is necessary. All my JP friends run stock rubber connecting hoses with no problems.
  13. Lookin nice Lee. Will Paypal still be possible? I am more than willing to pay the fee if thats the issue. Oh ya, dibs on a silver kit.
  14. Ireland just introduced a new all-aluminum radiator that supposedly fits in the stock location with no modifcations needed. At 230$, its very reasonably priced. I should get mine early March. Ill let you guys know how it goes.
  15. Lee, double the cost and triple the time. Ask me how I know.
  16. Website is unclear. How do you update maps for changes?
  17. Bingo. Its the tranny mounts. Even in my e30, it sounded like i had a freaking 7L race-prepped V8 under the hood when I put them in. I noticed NO increase in NVH with the engine mounts. These are IE mounts btw. If you autox or track your car, the stock mounts on some cars have been known to shear/delaminate, allowing your engine and radiator to become best friends.
  18. Adding to what Ian has already covered Decent mileage motors will run you from 3.5-6K for everything. I cannot emphasize this enough: get a motor from a RUNNING car. My motor had been sitting for a couple of years, needless to say it needed a near-full rebuild. S14s are not for those worried about spending some decent money. Like all M motors they require a high level of preventive maintenence or they will reward you with endless problems. Even on a low mileage motor, plan on spending 2-3K, replacing all wear items (all pumps, gaskets, bearings and timing assembly). You can get a motor from a '87 car, just be sure to update the valve springs. Im going with the 265 tranny. I dont think the cutting will be that hard. Although I am still not clear on which driveshaft to use. I think with big rubber, coilovers and big brakes, it'll definitely be worth it.
