  1. I thought it maybe but on every sparkplug openning? and the same line? I'll take a picture and post it.. but maybe your are correct.
  2. I have 3 E12 heads and they all are slightly different. Some have weld marks traced around the spark plug holes, the other 2 have different oil galleys that drop the oil back down to the pan on the exhaust side... Are any more desirable than the others?
  3. Thanks for posting the schematic, I'm sure I'm speaking for all the non-replying viewers!
  4. Yes they do but their design has bottom bracket that you need to drill a hole in your car and fasten with a bolt and nut.
  5. Monument is good but Costco beats them on price, if that is a concern.
  6. It's from a used engine I just picked up. I'll measure the distances of 2 known motors I have and see where this new motor is off. This motor has a crank pully that has 2 pulleys (I guess A/C or smog pump) and it looks to be cast as opposed to the stamped steel ones I am familiar with. It also has holes drilled in it probably for balancing, don't know. Hope that info adds to the possible solution.
  7. What would cause the crank pully to not align veritcally well with the water pump pully?
  8. Oh.. and one more question... Which way does the nut rotate off, isn't it clockwise to remove?
  9. I actually have a good way to keep the flywheel from moving. I just use a stubby flat blade screwdriver and position it in the housing and the blade holds on one of the flywheel teeth. Breaking the nut loose is another story I think putting it on the ground may help for safety purposes...
  10. I think the thermal islolation is true... the part of the velocity stack I am concerned with is at the top of the carb where the air initially enters the carb. The edges are too straight and would benifit from a curved openning similar to all opennings of all v stacks.
  11. What's the best way to remove this nut while the engine is out of the car.
  12. Sorry to hear the bad news... I guess the good news is that a NEW motor is in the future. Only heard excellent things about Eric Kerman.
  13. Hope all goes well... I found another motor! 284 Ireland regrind with 9.3 pistons... picking it up tonight This will be me temporary motor while the other one gets rebuilt.
  14. YIKES.... mucho $$$.. I was hoping for something like this. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=29933&searchItemId=251377
  15. Does anyone know if they make a Stubby Stack (velocity stack) for a 38/38? Thinking of fabricating one if there are none available, I know they make them for Holly's and other Amurican applications.
  16. Interesting.. my last tii was 2760046, can you tell me how early off the line that was?
  17. When I had my 2 tii's I wondered if just fabricating flexible Aeroquip type stainless steel lines... like I've seen on Audi's and Merc benz's in the bone yards...
  18. Drove it for a couple of weeks and forgot how fun this car was/is. There was too much smoke on decel for my liking so I decided to yank the head and check it out... OMG!!!! A huge gouge in the #2 cylinder wall.. Anyway the head is in great shape and saw that it was ported on the intake and manifold along with the 292 Ireland regrind. Just pulled the motor this morning and now will be hunting for another candidate. I'm getting good at pulling and installing motors now.. kinda like changing oil for me at this rate Here is a pic of the bad cylinder... hopefully when I break the motor down the piston will be re-useable and not a paper weight or nice 9.5 Piano top ashtray.
  19. Going to swap heads and will be putting in a new head gasket. Can I use that same gasket if I swap heads again in a few months?
  20. Here is the link.... not exactly the same engineering.. but I'm sure it will work just as well. http://www.racetep.com/02frtult.html
