  1. I thought Ireland or TEP or one of those SoCal shops had one that was part of their strut brace package.... It mounted on 2 of the studs on the rear valve cover and then had a rubber bushing in the middle that eventually attached to part of their strut brace on the front righthand upper strut bearing area...
  2. maybe the shop did not install the seal flush or straight... I just did my seal after I took the cover off of the motor, while it was on a stand... even then it was more of a pain re-installing it than expected.
  3. Thinking of testing it on my beater 325e... it has a nicely tinted (brown/tan) valve cover/box area that I can visually see if this stuff does anything to that varnish... http://www.auto-rx.com
  4. I'm sure it's one of those instances where 1 out of 5,000 did it and then they had to make changes... I'm going to intall them to help with getting more fresh air circulated.... more important to me than the possibility of the headliner getting tweaked out.
  5. Cool... I might try it... I need to tweak my sunroof cables anyway and it might save me time in the removal of the headliner...
  6. What happens if I unplug the passage and install the plastic vent tubes in my trunk in a Sunroofed car?
  7. Comparing Apples and Oranges here.... Pertronix is just a magnetic trigger while the Crane is comparable to a MSD + Pertronix setup.
  8. Electric motor cleaning spray works well... and it does not attack plastics. I usually put a light coat of dialetric grease on all my connections.
  9. I would agree... both systems work very well. I love the features and options you get with the Crane system.
  10. If you have one installed then you can do a test. Block the sensor with some tape (to simulate dirt or oil build up) and see if it continues to work. If I still had my Crane setup I would do the test.
  11. I had a Holly and a Carter fuel pump that was rated around 8-10lbs... both ran through a Holly adjustable fuel pressure regulor set @3lbs. One word on running electric... if you don't have the safety solenoid or some way to shut off the pump in accident (it can be VERY dangerous) One of the reasons I switched back to mechanical...
  12. I am curious about your experiences that led to your opinion. Thanks Simple logic I guess... if that optical part of the sensor gets Oil or dirt on it... It will not work very well. I had a Crane setup that I did not install, so I am not opposed to it (the features are plentiful)... but if reliability is an issue, a magnetic pickup wins in my book. I would be happy to use either.
  13. I think my E30M3 does 0-60 in well under 8 seconds.... and if the S14 was in a 02... all I can say is it would be faster.
  14. If I remember correctly the Crane unit is optical (correct me if I am wrong people)... Optical in a dizzy is not good... magnetic pick up is more reliable IMHO.
  15. Cool... Thx! yup, I know there are 2. Does it matter which one to adjust first?
  16. I would not.. Using the word 'rare' seems to me he is trying to sell the thing to an old lady that collects antiques. Those are always at the local pick and pulls.... I thought it was funny as well.
  17. I had 2 tii's and if I remember correctly the linkages had to be set up first. That includes the valve on the pump that gives it extra fuel when cold (if that is malfunctioning you can be driving rich). If you suspect it is the injectors, those are easily removable and you can either clean them yourself of have a shop do it (spray pattern test, cheap). The fact that you are getting 90mpg per tank tells me you are running stinky rich. I'm not a mechanic, but there are only 3 things involved here.. Fuel Spark Air How clean is your throttle plate? is it openning 100% at full throttle? another easy thing to check. Have you run it w/o the air intake ? Maybe something is clogging one of the 2 filters... Good luck, Robert edit.. one other thing.. if the timing is too retarded you will experience those top end problems, and overheating as well. last note... Ignition wires... check the resistance and make sure they are all within spec. (replace cap and rotor to get those out of the equation)
  18. From your experiences with POR15 I would never encounter a winter like you stated, being in Sunny California. I guess in my environment they all would probably be more than enough protection for me. But more real life stories are welcome from others... Thanks again, Robert
  19. Need to start thinking about attacking the rust in the spare tire well. They all claim to be the best and from my surfing it looks like POR-15 has their act together from a Marketing and product standpoint for fixing automotive applications (ie puddy, fabric etc....) Just wondering if anyone has had any firsthand experience with any of the above for rust patching. Thanks
  20. Where did you route your new outside lines? What materials did you use? Thanks, Robert
  21. With my car idling if I take the oil filler cap off the pressure seems to be significant, meaning it is blowing out at a noticable rate. Of course the breather hose is also pushing out oily vapors as well. Is this normal?
