  1. A common area that folks look at for addressing exhaust smell in the cabin is the trunk seal. Apparently due to airflow around the rear of the car, a dead spot is created, and exhaust can seep into the trunk and then into the cab. Check the condition of your trunk seal and that the trunk closes snuggly. I'm sure others will chime in with additional areas to check.
  2. I've been biting my tongue for the first few days because I wasn't quite sure how to react to the new site. Now that it has been a little while, honestly, the old site is already fading from my memory. Yes, the new one has a slightly different feel, but I see significant benefit with the improved search function, better speeds, and much reduced concerns of viruses. The look is a little different, but the community remains the same, and that really is what has kept me coming back for the last 8 years. Thanks to all who have made it so great, regardless of the iteration.
  3. I have been putting in some fresh blue cloth flexible brake hoses today, but for the life of me CANNOT get the elbows that mount to the MC properly seated. Any slick trick for getting these puppies in there better?
  4. Thanks David. Can you post a link to the MSD unit? What plug wires does it take?
  5. Very cool, thanks. I've never seen that site before and they've got a bunch of good stuff. Is it someone from the FAQ world?
  6. Currently I have the stock Ford coil running on my EDIS. While it works fine, I don't like the plug wires at all and choices are very limited given that the terminals are odd-ball. I know some folks have also used the Accel 140028 coil but I've been unable to find one in the US (as they were fitted to Euro spec cars only.) Anybody know another coil that can work in place of the Accel unit that is a plug and play for the EDIS but has standard plug wire sockets? Thanks.
  7. Hi folks, I'm curious to know what camber setting and tire pressures people have found good for track days. Yes, I know that there are many variables regarding suspension set-up etc... just trying to get good ballpark numbers. Also, yes, I know there is likely info that could be found via the search function, but whenever I use it I get a virus warning, so I'm not going to go down that path. For what it's worth I have GC camber/caster plates and coilovers up front. I'm running on Falken Azenis 615s, 195/60/14 I believe. Thanks in advance.
  8. When I had my car painted, I seem to recall the painter used something called "Schutz"??
  9. Hi folks. I'm looking for one of the plastic "funnels" that mounts to the underside of the dash to divert defrosting air onto the windshield. Specifically, I need the drvier's side. Anybody have a spare? trichardson AT clifbar DOT com
  10. Manuel. I've got a couple of folks ahead of you. Will be in touch if they fall through. Phreshkid, nothing else on the car is for sale.
  11. Out of curiosity, what size are the TB's? 40? 45? Something else?
  12. Achman. Send me an email at trichardson AT clifbar DOT com. Thanks. Tom
  13. I have an early Esty carpet kit for sale. Not sure of the official color name, I'll just call it Dark Tan. All pieces are included and for the most part there is minimal wear. On the piece behind the drivers seat there is a stain from where I stupidly put a dirty flywheel. Doh!!! Other than that, it's just wear and tear from driving and installation and removal. Good for a daily driver but it ain't show quality. $110 shipped.
  14. If I remember correctly its the connections from pins 10 and 12 on the EDIS module to pins 1 and 3 of the connector to the coil pack.
  15. Slightly off topic, but can anybody recommend a good book on this type of car set-up? Suspension, tire pressures, alignment, etc...
  16. I previously had one of the "Ultimate" BavAuto covers and was quite underwhelmed with it. The elastic around the bottom lost its elasticity within a year so it flapped around a lot in any wind. The water resistance also degraded quickly. I also had a Budge cover for a while and found this to be just barely okay, but by FAR the best cover I've had is the California Car Cover I now have, it's the Noah model. Great fit, excellent water resistance, really just an excellent cover. Yes, it costs more, but in my opinion it was well worth the extra money considering how much I've got invested in the car.
  17. Only took me 4 1/2 years to join this thread, but better late than never, right? Wheels: E30 steelies, painted silver. Yes, those are fake Alpina stickers. We can all dream, right? Tires: Falken Azenis 615s. 195/60/14 Front Suspension: Non tii struts, cut down about 1 1/4". Koni inserts. Ground Control coil over conversion. Ground control adjustable camber/caster plates. Rear Suspension: Koni inserts. Ireland stage II springs. Single dot pads.
  18. thanks for the quick replies. Ray, that link doesn't work for me. KB, and interest in parting with a couple of those so I don't have to make decals?
  19. Does anyone have decent photos of the decals which were on the Euro dash knobs? This is the best one I've been able to find, but it only has three of the four. Thanks in advance.
  20. I've looked at these also but haven't come across too many BMW folks who own them. If you look on some of the Porsche forums though you'll find many folks who have them and I have yet to see a bad review of the seats or the guy (Stefan, I think) who runs the company.
  21. I just got mine from Chris a couple of weeks back and prep'd it for install yesterday (ran out of time though, argh!!!) Next weekend hopefully it will be in. Chris was very easy to work with and the dash looks very nice.
  22. Thanks, that looks quite possible. So, on these earlier ones, how do the heater control face plates mount? My current ones just snap into place on the lower section of the dash. Are the earlier faceplate different?
  23. Today I pulled the old 2-piece dash out of my '73 in preparation for putting in a recently recovered unit (thanks Wegweiser for the donor core!!) However, when looking at the back of the lower section, I see that the mounting for the heater control lever brackets is different. Specifically, on the recovered one, there are no holes for the screws to go through that connect to the lever brackets themselves? Anybody familiar with this and have a solution? thanks in advance.
  24. Sure. Trichardson AT clifbar DOT com
  25. Has anybody come across a source for a reasonably good match for the stock tobacco vinyl? I'm interested in a couple of yards for a project I'm working on.
