  1. it was a 5er. still a tragedy though.
  2. when bleeding brakes what is the order again? is it inner then outer? do i need to bleed the third one that is facing the front? tia
  3. thanks Kevin. my guibo is getting worse and everytime i stop i smell rubber. i am at the heavy vibration in 1st and 2nd of the blown guibo stage. SUCKS!
  4. when replacing the flex disk what is the best way to align the driveshaft? i thought this was discussed recently but i can't find it. tia
  5. Tom owns The BMW Store in Cincinnati. He also has a sweet M1 with modern wheels (replaced those hideous originals) and an early 80's 3 series cabriolet (i think that is what it is called, or were they called Bauer). Did the 2002 have original window sticker?
  6. i can tell you that they are sloooow. call them up and pester them.
  7. here's some. i've been wanting to get a driver side also. i bet shipping is high. http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/frameoffer.htm
  8. when i had my buffer pads put on we were able to compress the springs just enough to get them off without dropping the half shaft. but maybe my springs are shot just enough to do it that way. it still was no easy task but only about 15 minutes per side.
  9. the car looks great! i'm not big on the square foggies though. but still very clean. how is the engine bay?
  10. i put mine up in the air after i had the same rattle @ 3k. found out it was a bracket that attached the downpipe (or resonator, can't remember which) to the body that was just vibrating funny. i just bent the bracket around a bit where it touched the pipe and it stopped i had replaced my exhaust manifold before i discovered the solution with a known good tii mani thinking it would solve the problem. oh well, good reason to buy parts!
  11. Here's mine. I've not had any problems with it.
  12. ~Off topic~ Stacey, I am going to be driving my 2002 wed. to Columbus. Send me an email if you want to meet up and play cars! selbo at msn . com
  13. my problem currently leads me to believe i need either new valve seals and/or head gasket. mild milky stuff in the valve cover, white coolant smelling smoke at start up(which seems to have ceased a bit since i replaced my oil pressure switch?wierd) anyhoo, sounds like i have some decisions to make. i would love to do it on my own. just worried about running into problems/downtime (daily driver). so the head itself should come off pretty easy? just "unplug/unbolt"everything? Mike Self lent some advice ontime about bungi cording the timing chain to to keep it in place. other than that from what i understood it seemed pretty easy to dismantle. thanks a bunch for the advice!
  14. Any opinions on having one professionally rebuilt vs. buying one already rebuilt and giving mine up as a core (not sure if I want to get rid of matched head to block)? I think that doing it myself is beyond my mechanical limits so I am deeply investigating my options. Also, cost of having one rebuilt? As always TIA!
  15. i use State Farm. i told them i wanted full coverage and they asked ME what the value of the car is. i told them $5k (which is what i have into the car) and that comes out to about $48/month. so you aren't doing too bad at $400/yr. for liability.
  16. i was amazed at how well/tight they felt. more secure than original. i'm glad i didn't spend $150 on 2 originals!
