  1. Thats very sad Pat, I'm glad you were not injured - one life taken to save yours. Good luck with the insurance claims etc. Beaner7102
  2. Check out this site: http://www.fastroadcars.co.uk/store/view_product.php?product=WEBPLENKIT They have an adaptor for the top of the weber, it can rotate 360 degrees. Bolt it on an run some pipe to the front of the car. Beaner7102
  3. Check out this old (but very informative) site: http://www.bimmers.com/02/ Under the Go fast upgrades / engine / which cam is for me That should explain a lot. Beaner7102
  4. If I remember correctly you need the e21 lower hose and trim it a little. No other special parts. The new stat and sender is a good idea. Beaner7102
  5. I'd say windscreen, every time it rained I would have like 1" water in the passenger foot well. I had my heater box out a few months ago (to fix fan), I used black Butal Mastic as a firewall seal, and put some around the whole windrcreen - fixed the problem, no more leaks. I also had the problem of the rocker drains were blocked with crud and I could hear water sloshing as I drove, a small screwdriver cleaned them out - check that too. Beaner7102
  6. The Webers only need 3-4psi its not very high. Beaner7102
  7. La Jolla gave me a price of $25 for the spin-on style oil neck about 6 months ago. Its the same on an E21, so a bone yard could be cheaper. Beaner7102
  8. Is the steering firm? guibo on the steering OK, they can let go and have rattles. Also look for an angry snake. Beaner7102
  9. Could make for a nice parts car. If its totalled you could get it pretty cheap. Worth a try. Beaner7102
  10. How tight are your shifter mounts? gear leaver a bit sloppy?? That can be your problem. But if its a good solid sort of bump its you center bearing on the tailshaft. Mine was completely shot, replaced it, now I dont have to avoid potholes in the road, as the thump was scary. Beaner7102
  11. Blut (here on the FAQ) sells them as group buys, they are genuine BMW ones, they fit great. He may chime in, send him an email. Beaner7102
  12. is the voltage regulator dead? Have you asked an Auto Elec dude to check it all out in the car with it running, not seperate items?? Half an hour of a pro's time could have saved you buying 2 bigger alternators. FWIW Beaner7102.
  13. turn off the motor at full rev - dont let it idle. then pull the plugs and check the colour, Adjust timing/ fuel accordingly if too rich/lean - advanced/retarded, then take it for another run. Beaner7102
  14. If the solenoid on the starter is on the way out, it will sometimes crank othertimes just click. You can some times get it to kick by giving the starter baby seals disease (club it to death). Just give the starter a good whack with a piece of wood or hammer (if you can get to it), and it may kick. If you have checked that all contacts are good and battery charged, I'd suspect the solenoid. Could be a good time for the E30 M3 starter, less weight more cranking power, less battery drain. 15. How about a can of Chrome paint. Your engine bay is pretty clean, and a chrome look strut bar would look sweet. Beaner7102
  16. in the famous movie "Rendezvous" - (1978 - French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the front bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB, and a friend, F1 driver drove) about 7 minutes in there is a Chamonix parked on the side of the road, Its a flash, but its an 02, I picked the Hoffmeister kink in the C-Pillar first. Yes it is a sickness, but one I'm happy to live with. Beaner7102 Edit - also the movie "Multiplicity" 1996 - Michael Keaton drives one a squarie I think.
  17. Always use dino oil for breaking in an engine then at the 2k mark you can change to synth if you wanted or stick with the dino.
  18. I would take it back to the rebuilder, but approch him in a "I think I've done it right, can you check it for me" sort of way. He will probably do it for free, and you can watch and ask questions and learn at the same time. TMHO Beaner7102
  19. The seller does not know the difference between Alpine and Alpina. I would not trust it. Beaner7102
  20. Check all wires to the Alt again, sounds like you missed one and its discharging the batery as you drive. Beaner7102
  21. Can be caused with an air leak. On my old 2bl Solex the choke assembly came loose and there was a very bad flat spot at 2k - you would nearly kiss the windshield. I tightened the 3 screws holding the choke and problem solved. Check for air leaks in the carb and vacum hoses. Beaner7102
  22. KFunk, I believe the smog test is now only applicable to the 76' as the other cars are past the 30 year mark. But i'm sure a Cali local will chime in and set you straight. Beaner7102
  23. You must use the correct lugs for alloys, the regular lus off steel rims are the wrong angle and will chew out the holes. Yes alloys can stick to the hubs, but some antiseize on the mating surface and it will be fine. Beaner7102.
  24. To zero an odo, pull the speedo, there are several black plastic geared number wheels with a grey diecast one to the left, with a tooth pick or drill bit (blunt end) push out the shaft supporting the numbers from left to right (to disengage the grey wheel) spin the numbers around to 00000 push the shaft back in ( right to lrft pushing the tooth pic/drill bit out). Job done. Good luck, remember it is, in theory, illegal to zero an odo, but you have been warned. Beaner7102
  25. Thats very nice work. I'm a finished artist/print production manager, and I know the effort you have put in it. I would love to get my hands on the .ai file, any chance of an email?? feruglis (at) bigpond.net.au Keep up the good work. Beaner7102
