  1. The brakes on these cars rely heavily on the rear brakes being adjusted correctly. Also you didn’t replace the pads they could have groves or un-even wear causing the squeal. Check the rear brake adjustment (LHS) that should fix your pulling problem on the right (the rears are biased to the opposite front). You could have a seized or sticking piston too. Beaner7102
  2. I just got notification from Walloth and Nesch (Germany - http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/frameparts.htm) that they have NEW Trapazoid LHS Mirrors for sale ($112 Euro + Shipping). Rear view mirror – left side, original BMW new part from an old production (no re-production) – with original blue glass and white plastic line limited stock. See pic. Just thought I'd let you know. 3. Be carefull not to fill the cylinder with filings from the re-threader. Beaner7102
  4. That looks like a 2bl Holly - but I could be wrong. beaner7102
  5. I would pull the heater box, pull out the heater core and get it flushed at a radiator shop - if its blocked you get NO heat regardless of the stat you have. An operational heat valve may help too. Beaner7102
  6. The large metal fuel filter for a Tii, holds a lot more fuel, so will help with the demand for fuel on startup - whether on hills or not. Beaner7102
  7. The U piece you are asking about is the same as what is on the 1bl Solex carb the early cars came with. It is a much better setup then the ball/socket pin/forks thing on the 2bl Solex. You could possibly hit the boneyards and get what you need. Beaner7102
  8. 80A alternator from a 1984-85 E30 318i - More power than you will ever need. See Zee Bucks site - link http://www.zeebuck.com/bimmers/bmvseite/ Beaner7102
  9. Try www.e9coupe.com for your new 3.0 sedan. Glad you got a good price for the 02. Beaner7102
  10. Glad you were able to score a set Todd. I put mine in a month ago after shipping them down from Brisbane. Theay are great I really love the way the hug you. Beaner7102
  11. Check the Ground on the sender, and where it connects to the body (next to the tank) or if you suspect the sender swap the one from your old car. Also no oil preasure light could be a burnt out globe, check that, then check those 2 wires. (while you have the cluster out you could add ground wires to the back of the guages, to ensure good grounds) Beaner7102
  12. I aggree with polloelastico, its not that bad a job. I have done it twice in 12 years (1st time to clean out core, 2nd time to get a frozen motor going - just like yours) With no AC you can have it out in under 1hr same for fitting. Follow the steps on the FAQ write up and its simple. If you do pull the heater box get the fan spining with your hand first, then get the air compressor to blow the fan around, lube it, more air to spin it fast. Hook a battery direct and I bet it will run. Could save $190 for a new fan. Beaner7102
  13. Which type of carb?? 1 bl Solex? 2 bl Solex? Solex sidedraft? Webber downdraft? Weber side draft? Let us know which kind, for specific advice. Lots of carbs - lots of things to look for. For starters drain the fuel - refill (gas goes bad with age) check over carb for leaks. If the motor runs and revs ok, even back firing, it will get you 50 miles. Back firing is more timing than carb stuff. Beaner7102
  14. The 118 deg was 3hrs north of Melbourne, flat open farming land. Normal humidity for Melbourne is around 50-60% nothing really high. I do agree that a colder stat will make you car run cooler. But I've had the same 80 deg stat for the 12 years, and only re-cored the rad last year to fix my overheating problems. beaner7102
  15. Relays on the headlights takes the full voltage load off the switch. The switch then operates the relay (electricly operated switch) to have full voltage straight from the battery to the lights. See link for full details http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html Anything for brighter lights must be good. Beaner7102
  16. I live in Melbourne Australia, and often get temps over 100 deg (New years eve was 118 deg where I was). I run a 80 deg stat, but have a re-cored rad. Guage sits just below horizontal all the time (3.30 on a clock), no shroud and a 5 blade (tropical- larger) fan. Before the new rad it was often at 2 o'clock in heavy traffic. Beaner7102
  17. There is a lot of research done on adding water with the petrol and air mix, to give a more complete/even burn. The water also helps to remove carbon deposits inside the combustion chambar, and cool the motor. See link: www.aquamist.co.uk Beaner7102
  18. Part #5 is the similar to #1-2, there is 2 air intakes into the filterbox, its an open end cap if you like. Beaner7102
  19. Thanks for the reply Heinrich, I had worked it out. Beaner7102
  20. My fan was not working, I pulled the heater box (i need to get the core flushed by the rad shop) checked out the fan, gave it a spin it seamed fine. I hooked it up to a battery and it span slowly. Lubbed up the bushes and it span at full speed. Its been working fine since (10 months) I would give it some lube before spending $$$$$$ on a new one. 21. The rubber bush between the 2 halves is to reduce heat and vibration from the gearbox. Try pulling the circlip off and putting a shim in there or maybe some silicone squirted in there will bind the top to the bottom and still allow for vibration to be absorbed. beaner7102
  22. Hey Skip, I have his mobile number if you still havent heard from him. Send me an email - feruglis (at) bigpond.net.au Beaner7102
  23. When you do get it off, put some Vasaline on the rubber seal, it easier to put on and off after that. Beaner7102
  24. You could let EBay know he is selling the car with 45,000 less miles on it, than the previous sale - thats fraud. That should force him to pull the sale. Beaner7102
  25. I need a new set of plug leads, the local parts place has single Bosch leads cheap, but what lenghts do i need? I dont have my car with me to check, and I will get the leads before I get home. Can you help with the lenghts for: #1 - " #2 - " #3 - " #4 - " Coil - " Thanks Beaner7102
