  1. Does it work with the hazards on? Then check for voltage with a DMM every 4-6" from the light to the find the break. Beaner7102
  2. You can buy the brackets from Jaymic (UK) http://www.jaymic.com/shop/parts_02_products.asp?grp=02GB for about $45 (USD) shipped. If that helps you out. Beaner7102
  3. the highest amp fuse on an early car (prior April 71') is 16amp. As the headlights are not fused. Some new cars have 60amp fuses. These cars are simple - thats why I love em'. Beaner7102
  4. Try your local dealer. I believe you can get new crate motor for a reasonable price. Or hit your local bone yard for an even better price. Beaner7102
  5. The labouring of the engine in too high a gear for the rpm put unburnt fuel into the exhaust and it went bang. Good way to put holes in your exhaust system. If no damage evidant then no problem. Beaner7102
  6. Front suspension??? Check RealOEM part number 07119914873 - Bolt number one in pic. Beaner7102
  7. See the post from 2 days ago - answers you question. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,268463/ Beaner7102
  8. How many gallons is the tank??? does it up set handleing when full??? I have read you can put a tank from an E12 (1st 5's) they have a few extra gallons capacity and drop right in, but you have a real coast to coast canonball run car there. LOL. Beaner7102
  9. Well I can only hope it was so full of rust that was the humane thing to do. Beaner7102 (lover of two roundies)
  10. I pulled #1 plug to check for compression stroke, I had the dizzy out 180deg, gave it a crank. She fired straight away, a bit rough and a real loud exhaust leak. I discovered it runs a lot smoother with plug #1 installed, not sitting on the bench. I timed it up with the timing light, tappets are noisy, need adjustment I think. But I found 2 water leaks, one under the inlet manifold, had to pull the manifold to fix it. Its off to get a roadworthy tomorrow. How did the jumping go? I bet it was hot in the sand. Beaner7102
  11. Todd, is that a 32/36 weber the lynx/45's is replacing?? Willing to part with it to a friend??? My 1602 (with Tom's Blacky motor) needs more juice than a single downdraft. Beaner7102
  12. There is a notch on the front pulley (both inner and outer edges), clean the muck off the pulley, put a tiny dab of liquidpaper (tipex) on the notches. Be sure to align the pointer (about 1pm near the timing cover) with your white marks. That will be #1 at TDC, make sure its a compression stroke (as proved by your comp guage). To do this have the car on a flat surface, put the white marks at about 8pm to the pointer, car in 4th gear, comp guage in, roll car forward to align TDC, comp guage should move. There is a mark on the rim of the dizzy (covered by the rim of the cap), the rotor should line up with this mark when the dizzy is pushed in (the rotor moves (a 1/4 turn approx) when you push it in - so it may take a few goes). You now have static timming set. Start car check timing with a timing light (half the steel ball on the fly wheel should be visable (LHS of the car for the half ball) at 2400 rpm for a Tii. 13. Welcome Nick, Tommozza mentioned me (Beaner7102) just thought I's say g'day my self. If you are thinking about a Pertronix for you car, try Derek at The Parade Auto Spares in Norwood. I got mine there (cheapest in Oz) I havent fitted it yet, but everyone here recomends them (or the Crane) as a points replacement. Beaner7102
  14. Sounds like you choke is not comming on properly. The water choke on my old solex would idle at about 1200rpm up to 1800rpm before switching off. So you could start it and walk away. Are you getting power to the electric choke? There should be a relay powering the choke, check that too. I like to set my (warm) idle at 800-900rpm so if you have wipers, H lights and heater fan going the alt light is not on. Beaner7102
  15. Todd, on 14" you should be running 185/60s or 195/55s. On the 16's run 205/40s there are several Hankook performance tyres in that size. Beaner7102
  16. Tom, those are from a Mk I or Mk II Ford Cortina, and were only available as a manual choke version (I believe), see pic attached, choke housing in green. Beaner7102
  17. Yes. were you pulling at the dizzy end or the plug end? Dizzy end- pull (all) the leads out clean with some fine sand paper - lead ends too - to ensure good contact. Plug end - puul lead off end of plug, is the end screwed on tight for the lead to make good contact (for rubber boot leads) for bakelite ended leads is the end damaged? is it clean? making good contact with the thread on the end of the plug?? Beaner7102
  18. Is your plug lead on the plug properly?? I've had it happen on rubber booted leads, the boot was tight on the plug but the cotact was not touching the plug contact and the spark would jump from the end of the lead to the end of the plug (could not see it, as it was under the boot) heard clicking, pushed the leads on properly, noise gone. Beaner7102 edit - also check under dizzy cap for scrapping on #1 contact, rotor could be hitting it???
  19. A = crank case vent as mentioned - if you are getting a heap of oil comming out (caused by blowbback), sonuds like your motor is getting tired, try changing to a different oil (helped on my car). B = fat braided looking hose, is brake booster hose, should go to brake booster - not plugged B = if you mean the thinner fuel ine looking hose ????? not sure Beaner7102
  20. Todd, Alpina Australia have them for an E30, offset of 28mm in 7 x 16 size wheels only. They are fully reconditioned and have them in stock at the moment. But will cost approx $2k for the 4 wheels - That was 6 months ago. Send an email to Mr. Imre Szakall :- ALPINAAUSTRALIA (at) bigpond.com for details. They also have fully rebuilt LSD diffs, pic your ratio (even custom ratio for racing i.e. 4.11, 4.5, 4.75) they are a mear $2500, but are rock sollid. Beaner7102
  21. Its already on the FAQ http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/56/32/ Beaner7102
  22. I get really good results just with a cheap ($70) electric pressure washer, it runs about 1700psi and removes a lot of gunk. Let it dry, on the stubborn bits I get some spray can degreasser ($2 a can) another blast - crud gone. Great for carpets too (out of the car). Beaner7102
  23. Those wheels are early stock steelies with the stock hub caps, the wheels have been repainted, looks grey, a bit too light. They were silver from the factory. The engine has 6 cylinders too - apparantly. Beaner7102
  24. The 1602 came out with a 4.11 diff, couple one of those to a 2002 and it would take off like a rocket. But be noisy at high speeds. Check the diff/speed/revs guide here on the FAQ - see link http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/56/32/ And see what revs/speed you should be doing, and work out if its a different diff (quite possible) or truely a low range first (very odd). HTH Beaner7102
  25. Nothing beats looking at a real car, as a photo retoucher, I can make rust disapear, cracks in the dash vanish, even change the colour of the car. If you can go have a look, then you know what your bidding on. TMHO Beaner7102
