  1. Hi Bob, it sounds like the return line for the kuglefischer. All later blocks have the raised boss for the return but only tii's have it drilled and a pressed in nipple. Anthony
  2. I think Blunt is great....wish he would have been in business when i was restoring my car . If they are large pieces then go right to your local dealer. The large piece (especially the curves ones) like the corners are difficult to ship properly and the dealer is more then happy to ensure you get a perfect piece. I think for whatever reason the drivers side front took 3 tries to get an un-damaged one.
  3. How is this? http://www.alberta02.com/gall/album39 Anthony
  4. I bought it from a local distributor in Canada. I am quite pleased. A
  5. Yeah if the timing is too far advanced for your engine (every engine is different) then you can get a pretty agressive climb almost in tune with the throttle. I would check that before pulling anything. A
  6. Are you sure you don't have a timing issue? I would back it out a few degrees and see if it is better. Have you changed any timing specs? Anthony
  7. In follow up to my last post about my garage being complete, this weekend I pickup and installed my new lift and also retrieved my race car from winter storage so it could be with me at home It is much better and much more productive to have it with me. I built my garage with a side vault using scissor trusses which gave me a hair over 12 ft at the peak, the result is it allows me to lift the car to the max height on lift (pic shown is 3 locks from the top) and allows me plenty of room to park any car underneath. Lots of work to do before the season have to : Rebuild a diff assemble race motor new delrin bushings mount new hoosiers
  8. Sure anything is possible and in the quest for every last HP you can even configure them without an oil ring as many motorcyle racers do.
  9. Ohhh I wish I wasn't 1500 miles away or I would bring down the stroked inka alpina a4 Anthony
  10. I am doing this right now although we TIG welded it. Both intake and exhaust, focused on velocity rather then hogging out the ports. Will compare with my race motor (built by a 2002 vendor) on dyno. I am about 4 weeks away from dynoing the race motor and will let you know. Anthony
  11. Most likely your s14 crank came with a sprocket attached, no? I use a 2002 pump (the pumps are very similar just the pickups are different) and get the s14 or m30 sprocket kit (they are the same) and the oil pump chain from my local worldpac dealer look here: The only thing you need to be mindful of is that old 2002 pumps had the gear attached with 3 bolts, the new ones have a single nut and washer. You need a pump with the single nut. On both my cars - my street/drivers ED and my track car - I run a a baffled pan with windage try (both from Ireland), and an oil cooler. Any questions email me: anapheATgmail......COM
  12. I would not put one in a 2002 but do have one in my e30. Definately not "worthless" A
  13. What are you talking about here? Are you speaking of mean piston speed that doesn't take into account the rod length? The reality is that many s14's and s14 EVO's (and S38 motors) have years worth of service and 10000's of miles on the stock rods. I have always read that in terms of acceleration, a longer rod allows for more time at dwell (@ TDC) and offers a slower acceleration away from TDC thus being a bit more gentle on the lower end. Mean piston speed is not effected by rod length but piston acceleration (at different areas of the stroke) are.
  14. The s38 is an m30 derivative so it is larger then the m20. I have one in my e30 and it is a nice motor which has started to growing on me. I can tell you that it is a tight fit in an e30 so without major modifications to the 02 sheet metal it would be near impossible to fit. A
  15. I think they are the same but to be safe I would get the s14. Theya re cheap from your local worldpac dealer. If you are re-using your pump you need to check if the sprocket has one nut or 3 bolts holding it on. The new pumps and sprockets (including all s14 ones) use the single nut. You might need to upgrade your pump to match.
  16. OK, With your stroke (84) and bore (89.5) you are only making 2110 or 2.1 litres. Not really work all the trouble in my opinion. Also if you already have custom pistons made for a stock 2 litre crank you either have to have custom pistons rods made with a centre to centre length of 133mm or have custom pistons made in 1 of 2 ways. 1. You can get custom pistons made for the s14 crank and m10 rods (these will need the pins related 2mm higher towards the top of the pistons. 2. Get custom pistons made with the pin relocated 11mm (2mm for 1/2 stroke increase and 9mm for longer rod) higher and get yourself a set of 144mm rods either from an s14, or aftermarket (Ireland makes some so does pauter). Both ways work for a street motor the short rods are fine. For a dual purpose or race motor I would suggest going to a longer rod. It comes down to which pulley you want to use. If you need to use a tii puller then you need the nose of the crank turned down to match. If you want to use an s14 pulley then bore the front cover to accept the s14 seal. Timing gear is easy. the s14 motor and the bix sixes all use a larger sized sproket and chain. You need to buy a new oil pump chain and oil pump sprocket. Hope this helps.

  18. If they were new you could gloat... Probably a fair price considering the condition and age. Beware that these Hoosiers extremely sticky but after a few races performance falls off pretty quick I would say that while new performance is better then anything out there that I have experienced, once they have been cycled a few times their performance drops below some of the other options. These are the ultimate tires for guys who run a new set at each race weekend. Also what kind of rim are you mounting on? At that size 7" wide would be at the low end of the acceptable scale. With stock body work I was never able to run 225's (in 15s) as there simply wasn't enough room but I was running Alpina Green Dots and coilovers would provide some additional clearance.
  19. Locally in Alberta I thought it was illegal to tow a vehicle with a single axle flat deck trailer. Just a thought.
  20. It sounds counter intuitive but I had a similar problem with my tii, although it has Alpina Throttles on it. I would take it to the track, it would run great for a session or two and then start running like ass. The tip off for me was that the tach would sometimes bounce erratically. In the end it was a bad ground. I cleaned and replaced all grounds and car works great again. If it happened suddenly I would be suspect of a fuel issue especially if everthing checks out. Test pressure AND Volume of the pump. You can also remove a injector and check spray pattern into a glass jar while cranking (remove coil wire) Make sure all rods on K-fischer pump are intact and nothing has jumped Remove upper timing cover and check that the pump is in time with the motor.
  21. Hi Norm, I dyno'ed my stroker (304 cam 84mm crank 10:1 and Alpina Injection) on a mustang dyno and made the following: The best run was 145hp@6400 and 131lbft @ 5400rpm Not sure what that translates to likely 170-175. That being said I still think an m20 will travel 0-60 and beyond faster then a m10. And I suspect your car is a bit heavier then Davin's. But I would like to see your dyno plot if I could. I would like to compare the Evo crank to the stock s14 and see how your power is made. Could you email it to me? Anthony anaphe@gmail.com
  22. My sister went through this a few years back. She and her husband are both University Profs. They lived in Davis and she commuted to Berkely every day. They took a job at UNCG (Greensboro) and really like it. The first 6 months was culture shock for her but now I think they will stay there for good. The reality was that with 2 professors salaries they would have never been able to buy a house they would have wanted (They arrived too late), but in NC they bought a nice house and can walk / bike to work. My only experience really is in the Triad (my sister and I have done a lot of business in Winston Salem) as opposed to the Triangle but it is nice - but very different from California.
  23. Hmmm thanks. I am having a shop refinish my wheels so I am pretty sure he would rather mix it then rattle can them. He did a set of concours steelies (if there is such a thing) and it took 2 or 3 tries before he got the right dull/matte'ness to them. Thanks for the heads up on the Felgen Silver Matt, I think he will go with that. Have a great weekend.
  24. Hi Everyone, I am getting ready to completey strip and refinish a set of Alpina 15" wheels for my inka car. Can anyone definatively tell me what colors are to be used? Is it Polaris or another color, also what finish should the centers have dull or gloss black. Regards and have a great weekend. Anthony
  25. In Calgary we are 3300 ft above sea level, on a hot summer night when the sun goes down and the air cools (upwards of 10-20 degrees celcius) the car comes totally alive...a real beast.
