Just got a 320is for parts, what should I keep for the 02?

Just got a 320is for parts, I know I want the LSD. What else is good for upgrades?

The trans is toast, what is different with the alternator? What are the rear backing plates?

What happened to the gearbox? Usually 5 speed getrag gearboxes are bullet proof compared to the automatics. You sure it's the gearbox and not the clutch hydraulics or linkage?

The backing plates are the plates behind the rear drum brakes. This allows you to use the larger 320i rear drum brakes.

Alternator is higher amperage.

I'd also grab the motor and anything attached to it, including the trans. As it has been said they are very durable and the problem may be somewhere else.

Grab those seats no mater what the condition.
