Some kinda chrome paint. I wonder if he actually had the car redone in chrome. Could that even be possible?

i liken it to a sliding scale. the less taste you have the more things become possible

What a coincidence... I'm looking at this type of paint for a project at my day job.

99.9% sure this is NOT an electroplated Nickel-Chrome finish because of the size of plating tanks needed to dip a complete unibody frame.

So far I've found 2-3 companies offering the paint and the spray equipment to apply the paint. When applied correctly, the paint system looks like electroplated chrome and I'm in the process of determining the durability of this paint system.

The companies selling the paint system say most of their customers are closed shops (i.e. don't take outside work) but there are some Custom Car shops who have purchased systems.

Esty's YouTube video is one of the chrome paint system's I'm investigating at work.

I've seen the process in-person and its amazing how closely the paint looks like electroplated chrome.

Downside of the paint system in the video is it requires special equipment to apply the "paint" and the "paint" itself is expensive.

This topic caught my eye.

I'm a Web Designer for Monster Jam (monster truck racing series) by trade, and we did a Chrome Grave Digger for Grave Digger's 25th anniversary 2 years ago. We used a product called Spectra Chrome.

Here are the links

I think it looked great in person, I did not know what to expect, but I have say I was impressed at the finish. The fans really liked it. I think it was cool on Grave Digger, but I don't think I would ever think of doing that to one of my BMW's.
