I will not be attending, it is my sisters fiancee's bucks party that weekend, so I have to go to that.

:-(

I will be at the one after that!! (I want to get the interior and the brakes, wheels and suspension sorted before anyone sees it in person...

  • 2 weeks later...

Soooo, my car rolled into the booth this morning... all ready to paint.

A truck hits a power substation about 250km from where we are and knocks out the power to us and about 250,000 people for the day... down bright and early in the morning to get cracking. I want it painted by the weekend!

Oh my god!!! So the car IS real! That is so cool. I'm so happy for you. It's in and then all you have to do next is put it back together again. That's great Todd. Looks like you'll have it done just in time for summer.

O thank god! :-P

Now its painted... take the car back to Geelong away from the place with no respect for time ;-)

Anyway, are you going to take it back to Geelong and do all the assembly or leave it up there and get them to do some/all of it?

Speak soon man. Back to the study... *sigh*

All right man! congrats on finally getting into the booth! I know the feeling, i was looking at my reciepts the other day, and I dropped my car off at the body shop on October 20th of 2005.

Keep at it man, once the paint dries, you're pretty much at the same point I am now. What do you have planned for engine/suspension/etc?

I have planned to do a temporary fit of a 45 side draught on a Lynx manifold to my M10 until I can afford/find a 2.5lt Euro S14 with dogleg C/R box... I have Koni Racing shocks with King Springs currently, but I am also saving for Ground Control Coilovers and IE swaybars along with Urethane bushes and a few other goodies for the back...

I have Lee's Massive Brake Kit coming from Canada, so I am waiting on that, but I plan on fitting coilovers, brakes and new wheels at similar time... I have not decided what wheels I want just yet, but I am close. I will fit Yokohama Advan AO48R's to the wheels.

My car has been at the panel shop since December 14th 2005... so it has been a long time coming! Hahaha

Thats awesome you getting your 02 painted. I would be so stoked to be doing that. Congratulations.

"it is my sisters fiancee's bucks party that weekend." I am learning this Aussie speak a little at least. I looked up Australian Buck Party and I also got Hens Party. Seems like the USA version of a Bachelor party and a Bacheloret party. Is that what it is?

Thanks,

John

Cars - I'll look in the driveway and let you know later.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
