I can see BMW doing this — they’re always innovating and they’ve developed lots of ‘variable’ versions of what was previously not variable. (valve timing = VANOS & double-VANOS,, valve lift & duration = Valvetronic)

 

I really liked the N62 v8 design  - it was the only production engine in the world to feature a continuously variable length intake manifold known as the DIVA intake. The intake length path begins to shorten at 3,500 RPM and is progressively shortened up to redline… that’d be sweet with dual sidedraughts.

 

Sadly, DIVA was replaced by DISA (a simpler two-stage manifold) in later variants..
