Original Manual calls for DOT 3, but DOT 4 is superior so that's what I use.

 

A regular 12oz bottle should be enough to flush the whole system.

 

I use Prestone because you can get it almost anywhere, haven't had any issues.

Prestone isn’t high temperature, so the fluid could boil under lots of hard braking (like mountain roads or track use).  I switched to ATE 200.

I use Castrol GTlma on the racey cars.  

The 2002 has good ducting, but the E30 doesn't-

and I've never had much trouble with the fluid 

in either.
