66 BMW 2000 for sale

FYI the cam cover is from an 1964 1800 and wouldn't fit over the oil spray bar on a '66 head (without modification), so potentially the whole engine/head is a '64 1800?? Only the numbers will tell.

It's also odd that the car has single headlights, which would either make the body a 2000ti (?) or an 1800...

getting slow, didn't even register because my 2000 was a ti. Money on it being a '64 1800

But what about the strut bearings? Looks like it has 2nd gen strut bearings? So maybe it is a 66’+

you're right, plus it doesn't have the mounts for the early air filter of the '64, and the relays are wrong, plus the brake fuid reservoir. I'll wake up in a minute. The cam cover is from '64, that's all I'm certain of 🙂

And I just noticed the trim on the doors - neither 1800 nor 2000ti accessories. But I still don't get the single headlights.

Dunno but sorry, 1800s had door trim but not the 2000ti. I can't really make out the photos but it seems there is no hood trim.

So many mysteries…. I bet a VIN sent to BMW Group Archives (hdz.info@bmwgroup.com) would tell you the manufacturing date and the model when the car left the factory. No charge!
