Also helps if you loosen the temp sensor allowing air to escape when the nose is up.

Remember... no Teflon tape on that temp sensor. Needs a good ground through the threads.

It has straight threads, not tapered pipe threads and uses a seal ring.  I haven'f found anywhere on BMWs that use pipe threads.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Somewhere in my stash I have an aftermarket "tee" (for the oil pressure sensor to add a gauge IIRC) with 1/4" NPT on one of the outlets.  But it's not factory for sure!  And not installed on my car.  So it doesn't count.  Jim's still right as usual.
