Folks,

Recently i stumbled into 1965 BMW Ti/SA #995194. This was Art Krill’s car back in the day.
I’m interested to learn whether anybody in this community might have any history regarding the car?
I hope so.
I plan to bring 194 to Monterey next summer.
thanks,

George

@tjones02 - yes, thank you very much.  Super helpful.  Your views gave me confidence to pull the trigger.  Much appreciated.  Would love to see if someone might know who the original US owner might have been.  Art believes Mike (someone).  Wish I had more.

much appreciated,

George

This thread has got me thinking. Years ago someone sent their original Tisa valve cover when I asked for a no -ribbed version cause the one I inherited wasn't true to the period of my pedestrian NK 2000. It arrived in perfect condition and is still installed in my car.

The kind person said they swapped out their original Tisa cover in order to re-port the oil exhaust from the motor.

Was it Art who sent the valve cover to me? I don't remember and our DMs have disappeared from the forum.

But if it was I'd be glad to exchange the valve cover for one of equal quality. One doesn't charge to make a Tisa whole.

@kiva667 that’s so interesting. I not sure if it was Art either, as he hasn’t mentioned this to me. I’ll send you a direct message and we can discuss directly. Many thanks!

Yea, Nick, it would be the right thing to do if indeed was the correct valve cover . I'm in the Caribbean now or I'd take mine off to see there ar some identifying cast numbers inside. I'll wait and hear from George, anyhow

EDIT: the valve cover I was given does have one unique feature - no ignition numbers on it. That even got "Conserve" (Steve) puzzled.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
