You may already know about this site, but I'll share it anyway.

Pure-gas.org is the definitive web site listing stations that sell pure gasoline in the U.S. and Canada.

I'm in Sioux Falls, S.D. right now and according to that site, there are forty-one stations with e-free gasoline in S.F., S.D.!

This is an interesting little article on the topic.

Great article!

Clearly checks all the boxes on what we can do with our "carbies" to help with the E10 gas problems.

- fuel return line

- cooled fuel hoses

- phenolic carb spacer

- reflect heat from carb and float bowl

- brass float

- sealed tank

- bio-fuel safe fuel lines

- heated intake manifold

- cool air to carb (yea snorkel!)

- oil catch can

- fuel treatment/stabilizer

- drive more often ... my favorite!

Thanks for the reminder about that site. I have a e-free pump option near me, but they only sell 87 octane, and I have a 10.4:1 engine.  I always feel like the octane booster/additives are gimicky, but maybe that is the right solution if the weather or driving conditions warrant it, or if the car is going to sit for long periods in the winter?

1995.  Hertz rental car.  Old Fall River Road, in Rocky Mt. National Park- 9.4 miles one way steep twisty turney gravel road up the mountain.  Hot summer day, lotsa tourists on the road for the first time (including me).  About 2 miles in, in a long line of slow moving cars, vapor lock hits. For the first of 3 times in that 9.4 miles.  Each time instant panic because not really enough room to pull off the road to let others pass, and what if I have to get towed outa' here?  It'd be about 30 miles to the first pavement outside the park.  Each time it started up after about 15 minutes.

I can't recall what model car it was and don't know if it was really vapor lock.  I do recall reading the part of the rental contract about staying on paved roads...

I think the saying goes, 90% of your carb problems are electrical.

might have it backwards but they can both be applied. you said

you opened the hood and touched all the obvious connections.

did this include the distributor wire from the fire wall to the dist?

I have seen this many times on the car where the wire from the

body to the distributor is broken inside the covering and or the

crimp at the female end connection. with the motor running try to

extend the wire away from the distributor. the strands inside the

sleeve break and when the motor leans away from it's normal

position. then when you press the clutch, the motor returns to the

resting position and the connection is re-made. just one of those

repairs I have seen many times. I even drove a car backwards

3 miles home to learn this. let us know the solution.

Yes, checked that wire. Looked closely at things this weekend, nothing much to see. I slightly tightened the carb bolts and fuel pump bolts and checked hose clamps. Back in service this week so we'll see how it goes...

Hot day, could be vapor lock but I would change the Jeep gas filter.  When I picked up my Cab from Port Hueneme and drove it home it would loose power on every hill,  Turned out the sediment in the fuel filter would float back and clog the fuel fuel flow starving the carb.  Changed the fuel filter, problem went away.

I have a jeep filler that I will send you for shipping.
