What Size Wheels Came on a 1600Ti

Hi folks    I have finished my second 1600 Ti tribute    I am going to be putting 13 inch wheels on it but am wondering what width wheels came on the 1600 Ti back in the day     Thanks for any insights

Mike- My Autopress  1600 workshop manual states the 1600 (NK) had 4.5Jx 14 wheels with either 600Sx14 or 165SR-14 radial tyres.

 

It also states “all other models” had 4.5x13 wheels with either 600Sx13 or 165SR-13 radial tyres.

 

Another book includes portions of the 1600ti sales brochure which states 4.5x13 wheels.

 

I have some older road test articles I can review.

They came with 4.5x13 steel wheels just like the standard 2002 from 1967-1973. 
 

The 2002ti however came with 5x13 steel wheels like the tii.

What were the specs on the 1600ti?  From what I’ve read, the engine had higher compression and the two carbs.  

 

It had front and rear roll bars.  But the brakes were the same as the 1600, except the later cars had bigger rear drums.  

 

Was there any other differences…could you get a dogleg 5 speed?  Were the front brakes different from 1600?  Gearing?  

 

I can’t find a whole lot of info on it - mostly glancing mentions in articles about other things.

The 1600ti received, as standard equipment, the reclining front seats “introduced” on the 2002. But the date on this brochure, December 1967, pre-dates production of the 2002 — yes, the absolute first 2002 (VIN 1660001) was manufactured November 29, 1967 and a handful of press and test cars in December 1967 — so the 1600ti was available with reclining seats before the 2002 was even available.

 

And I’ve previously noticed, in the parts catalogue, that a 3.90 long-neck differential was available. But I hadn’t a clue it was standard equipment on the 1600ti!

 

And what does “alterations to the valve timing” mean? I’ve long believed that 2002’s, 2002ti’s, and 2002tii’s shared the same camshaft (excepting the mighty 1976 49-state version!). Are they saying that the 1600ti employed a different camshaft than the “plain-old” 1600-2?

 

Too much to consume at once! 😳🎊
