Need help finding some hardware

Hi Guys,

I bought the IE front subframe hardware kit but it looks like it doesn’t include the nut and washer for the idler arm or the 3 bolts for steering pump. I went to getbmwparts.com as they use to have the classic parts on there but don’t see anything listed anymore. I don’t know the part number either so can’t look it up any other way.

can anyone point me to where I can go to order replacements? Thanks!

Look up part #s here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select?product=P&archive=1&series=114&body=Lim&model=2002

Getbmwparts or any of the other dealerships with online sales should be able to get what you need.

https://belmetric.com/ has hardware if you know the sizes needed.

The 3 bolts that attach the steering box to the front subframe are M10 x 70mm, you can get them at Belmetric along with the M10 wave washers.  I could not find the Idler Arm Nut on RealOEM.

The washer for the idler arm is just not a flat washer, it is cupped        As said, all the other stuff can be bought at a hardware store.  Just don't get grade 5 off shore crap      grade 8  at a minimum

Thanks, Rick

There are no grade 5 and 8 metric bolts.

metric 8.8 and 10.9 are roughly equivalent to grade 5 and 8 SAE .

suspension/steering bolts should be 10.9 or 12.9 in my opinion, your life is important!

On the front suspension, the only fasteners that are kinda important

are the 3 bolts on the bottom of each strut.  They shouldn't come

loose- although I've had them do so and not come close to dying.

I now use the lock wire just to keep them from falling out.

Most fasteners these days are made in China-

the trick is to buy the good fasteners they make,

or better.
