I have a 68 1600 (manufactured 12/67) and needed replacement flexes. I found an industrial flex with a bolt diameter of 75mm 24 mm width and 10 mm bolt holes. The flex is rated for 150ft lbs of torque. (1600 is 95 ft lbs). The worn flex measured 74.6 mm diameter, 24.5 bolt hole depth and 10 mm bolt hole. I purchased the flexes on line at Action Machine for $75.92 each. ( product number below) .I have not road tested the flexes yet ,but the fit is perfect.

The 1600 might be rated at 95 ft lbs of torque but the driveshaft sees Way more than that when multiplied by the transmission. First gear is probably around 3.5 X 95 ft lbs.

Thanks you are correct, I don’t know what it was thinking. The gear ratio in first gear is 3.8. The engine develops 91 ft lbs at 3000 rpm. So it would be 345 ft lbs. appreciate the help.

I posted previously about the flex from an industrial supplier.
The torque data must have been incorrect Or Bmw Feels it will work. . I ordered the flex from BWW and received the flex yesterday. The flex from bmw cost $187.02. The product number On the BMW Flex is GA000-024 manufactured by SGF. It is the same product number as the flex I purchased from Action Machine for $75.92. See attached photo

If I recall correctly the first flex joint will needs to be replaced twice before the second joint goes out.  The second joint has to be replaced before the third joint goes out.  I had a 67  1602 that I put 167K on before I installed a 2 liter engine in it.  The flex joints didn't last as long with the 2 liter.

I’m in Germany and just bought a ‘67 1600-2.  In order to pass inspection, it needs all three guibos replaced.  Based on the above info, I googled “SGF GA000-024”.

I bought three of them at €40 each (plus 32% tax) from E-Rubber.eu (https://e-rubber.eu/product/sgf-ga000-024-giubo-flexible-coupling/) for €172, including overnight shipping.

I am going thru the same issue.  Replacing all 3.  Did the SGF GA000-024 work (Same size)?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
