I have often wondered about those tags but haven't seen any discussion of them.  So for the record, here is a set I have with the tags on the carbs as I received them years ago.  Perhaps some of the ti guys can provide some elucidation.

Yes, they ran before I took it all apart. They were leaking fuel like mad when I removed them.

I'm taking my time with these to make sure every screw is turned to the "correct" starting position.

 

Whatever the f that is.

 

I'm ready to tangle with the float level.

 

Insulators are a different color on each side....let it go...just let it go.

Float level is not difficult.  Run the engine a bit.  Turn it off.  Remove the top jet cover plate and use the dipstick method to determine the fuel level to the top of the carb, then compare that with the mark found between the barrels at the the front of the carb... After that is just a little trial and error.  I can take a pic of my PHHs to give you and idea how far mine are screwed in.  I bet it will be pretty close, as I just rebuilt mine a few months ago.

 

 

It's not a difficult process.

Engine looks super!   

 

One of my Solexes came with a tag - not sure if I ever decoded it...

 

Think most folks don't realize that the large brass fuel inlet nut is the adjustment for the fuel in the bowl.  I didn't mess with mine and the car seems to be OK.

Which sync screw?  

 

Do you have a Squirrel-cage type, sync tool ?
